Sanremo Festival Tribute: Sign Up for the 2025 Gara Canora!

The Sanremo Music Festival is Italy's most prestigious music event and one of the longest-running festivals in the world. First conceived in 1947 and officially launched in 1951 in the coastal city of Sanremo, this legendary festival has shaped the Italian music scene for over seven decades. Many timeless classics, including Domenico Modugno's iconic Volare, were first introduced to the world on this very stage. To celebrate this rich musical heritage, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Pechino in Beijing is thrilled to announce the return of the Gara Canora in Omaggio al Festival di Sanremo! Now in its third edition, this singing competition pays homage to Sanremo's legacy, giving Italian music lovers in China a chance to showcase their talent. Participation RequirementsThe competition is open to non-professional singers of any nationality who are at least 16 years old by the registration deadline (see below). 2. Registration MethodParticipants must submit a video of their performance (minimum duration: 2 minutes; maximum duration: 3 minutes) via email to [email protected] no later than 6pm, Feb 28. In addition to the video, they must attach a completed and signed registration form, which you can see below. 3. Song SelectionParticipants must choose a song from the repertoire of the past 74 editions of the Sanremo Music Festival. Performance TypesSolo and duet performances are allowed. 5. Language and TranslationContestants must perform the song in Italian or partially in Chinese (up to a maximum of 30 percent of the lyrics), using an existing translation or creating their own. In this case, the contestant will receive additional points from the Jury, up to a maximum of 25 percent. 6. Jury and Competition PhasesThe Jury will consist of five members, including at least three professionals from the music industry. The competition will take place in two stages: an elimination round and a final. Among all applications received, 12 contestants will be selected to participate in the final, which is scheduled to take place on Mar 21, at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing. 7. Evaluation and AwardsThe winners of the final evening will be determined based on the cumulative score assigned by the Jury, media representatives, and the attending audience. How to Participate

1. Participation Requirements

2. Registration Method
