Man Fakes Seizure While Accomplice Steals Puppies from Pet Store: 'It’s Been Terrible' (Exclusive)

Three men entered the Centennial, Colo., store Perfect Pets and allegedly stole two English Bulldogs on Sunday, Feb. 23

• Colorado pet store Perfect Pets was robbed on Sunday, Feb. 23, after four people allegedly worked together to steal two bulldog puppies
• One of the suspects, Timothy Davis, 37, was arrested and is facing charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, and drug possession. The search for the other three accomplices is still underway
• A Perfect Pets employee tells PEOPLE this is the third robbery at the store in recent weeks

A Colorado pet store, Perfect Pets, suffered its third robbery in February on Sunday, Feb. 23, after three men allegedly staged a medical emergency to steal two bulldog puppies, a store employee tells PEOPLE. 

Three men entered Perfect Pets, which is in Centennial, Colo. (approximately 15 miles south of Denver), around 1:30 p.m. local time before they grabbed two of the English Bulldog puppies that were priced at $4,299 each, according to the Perfect Pets employee and Arapahoe County Sheriff’s press (ACSO) release.

The Perfect Pets Employee tells PEOPLE that three suspects “came in at different times, and they were just walking around.”

“I had talked to the males. I told them that I had to hold on to an ID so that they could play with the Bulldogs because they kept asking me, and they were not giving me their ID. So I did not let them play with the Bulldogs,” she says.

Per the ACSO press release, “One of the men allegedly faked a seizure to distract the employees, while another suspect ran over to the pen, pulled the top off and grabbed both the puppies.” The employee says they stole the dogs the “one time the [pen] lid was not locked.” 

“He then ran toward the front door. An employee tried to tackle him, and he fell to the ground dropping the puppies,” read the press release. The same suspect got up and took the two puppies and ran out of the store with one of his accomplices. 

Despite several people chasing after them, two of the suspects escaped and got inside the fourth suspect’s gold Cadillac Escalade before it took off. “There is no description of a fourth suspect who was driving the Cadillac, who we believe is a female,” per the ACSO. 

The suspect who allegedly faked the seizure is Timothy Davis, 37. He was arrested at the pet store by sheriff's deputies. He is now facing multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony, theft and drug possession. 

The search for the remaining three suspects is still underway. “One of them is a black male who was wearing a large black coat and sweatpants. The other is a white or Hispanic male who was wearing a blue and white beanie-style hat and had brown hair,” the press release said of two of the suspects. 

The Perfect Pets employee tells PEOPLE that the public has given the store an “enormous amount of support.”

Perfect Pets owner Jens Larsen said the store is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of each dog, per ABC News. 

Meanwhile, the recent incident follows two separate attempts to steal dogs at Perfect Pets this month. 

“We had two women that were moms come in with both of their babies, and they sneakily put our puppies into their strollers and walked out with them,” the store employee tells PEOPLE, noting that they were trying to steal a mini Bernadoodle and a Cavapoo. Those two suspects have still not been caught, per ABC News. 

She also says a few days before that incident, someone attempted to steal one of the store's boxers. But she was able to chase after them and get the boxer back. “It’s been a crazy month,” she says. “It’s been terrible.”
