When I decided I was ready for a dog four years ago, my main concern was whether or not I would be able to continue traveling at the same cadence I was used to. Between trips to visit my family, vacations, and weddings, I typically fly at least once a month. In order to ensure my dog was as comfortable on airplanes as I am, I knew I needed to find a pet carrier that fit both of our needs.

My favorite feature on the pet carrier is its wheels. I love that I can zip through the airport with my dog safely secured inside. Since the wheels are removable, the bag is able to fit under the seat in front of me while in-flight. Plus, I’ve found that I can push her onto the plane, remove the wheels from the bag, and store them in the overhead bin quickly and easily — even when I’m traveling by myself.

Over the last four years, my dog has taken dozens of flights annually and is extremely comfortable sleeping on the plane. Even though she is an easy traveler who is comfortable in a carrier, this version has features that make the experience more pleasant for her. Both sides expand an extra 10 inches, giving her double the space to spread out and move around during the flight or while in the boarding area. The bottom of the carrier even has a fleece pad that offers extra padding.

While you should always check with your airline to ensure the carrier is compliant, I’ve found that the carrier fits under the seat with no problem. It only comes in one size that is recommended for small dogs up to 25 pounds, which is ideal for my King Charles Cavalier.
