A mom is facing backlash on social media after taking to TikTok to express dissatisfaction in a Costco cake she purchased for her son's graduation.
In a video posted to the social platform, TikTok user @mamabutteronaroll shares a clip of a large cake that had been cut into pieces, saying, "This is wild. We just cut into our second graduation cake from Costco. Let me show you all this."
As she pans the camera down toward the cut part of the cake, she adds, "I have never been so disappointed in Costco in my life. Like, how is this even real?"
The problem with the cake — which appears to be a large, vanilla cake with white frosting and a colorful design — is that it has no filling, which she specifies elsewhere in the video.
"And look — it just split right in half, and there's nothing," she says.
"Huge. HUGE Costco fail," she wrote in large text over the video.
In the caption, she further expressed her disappointment, writing, "Is this even real?! Am I dreaming? What happened to the filling?"
Commenters have weighed in, with many arguing that the cake still looks delicious.
"Me trying to figure out what was wrong and wishing I had a piece," wrote one.
The poster, meanwhile, responded: "The cheesecake filling is missing."

Another wrote, "As a non-icing lover, this is a dream cake."
But when some commenters suggested the poster "lower her expectations," she pushed back. "It has nothing to do with that. we didn't get what we paid for regardless of the price."

She added in other comments that she had paid for a custom cake with a "cheesecake mousse filling."
And when another commenter suggested that perhaps the store forgot to "slice the cake and fill it," the original poster noted that her cake was indeed sliced — it was just missing the filling.
