I shocked eight million people to win TV show – now I watch Chelsea games with John Terry
Harry Clark, the winner of last year’s hit TV show The Traitors, has spoken to talkSPORT on how his life has changed as a Chelsea fan since his appearance on the show. Clark, 23, also spoke about his Chelsea roots, why he’s a fan and who his superstar relative is which ignited his love for the west London club. Clark won the hit show The Traitors last yearBBC The show, which aired in January 2024, had captured public attention with crazy viewing figures. Almost six million people tuned in for the opening episode, which grew to eight million in the grand final. Clark won the show in spectacular fashion, becoming the first ‘Traitor’ to claim victory, defeating the other ‘Faithfuls’ during the grand finale episode in a truly shocking moment of deception. After weeks of dominating the British public’s TV screens, Clark took home a prize of £95,000 – and dominated conversations on living room sofas for days to come. Appearing on talkSPORT, he was asked about some of the best and worse things which came about from winning the show. Clark said: “Quite simply, as a massive Chelsea fan, Frank Lampard now follows me on Instagram so that was absolutely insane! “It was a childhood dream come true. In the space of a week, I’d gone from playing a football charity tournament with Joe Cole to watching the Chelsea game with John Terry and then got followed by Frank Lampard on Instagram.” Speaking on his Chelsea roots, Clark said he ‘bleeds blue’ after his grandfather, who played in Tottenham’s academy, was cousins with Peter Osgood – the former Chelsea striker who played 356 games for the Blues. Osgood famously scored in every round of the FA Cup in 1970 and still remains the last player to achieve this feat. He added: “It’s unbelievable. Back in their day Chelsea was a lot easier to get to than Tottenham, where they had to get a load of trains. It was easier to go to so my dad, grandad and uncle used to go. I was in a Chelsea kit when I was born.” On Chelsea’s current form, Clark metaphorized that ‘diamonds are formed under time and pressure’, mentioning the excitement amongst fans with such a young squad. You have all these people come in with a lot of money but they’re very smart people and to spend what they’re spending has finally started to work out now. “The best thing about it as well, when you watch the players interviewed after matches, like Cole Palmer, they’re not bothered about winning the league. They just want the football and they’re playing good football which is all they want to do. “Palmer said he doesn’t care about winning the league, he’s just happy the team are starting to gel and play together. We’re starting to beat teams by five goals and that’s all I can care about.” Asked whether he does believe Chelsea are in a title race, he said: “We’ve got a great run of games coming up to Christmas and hopefully we smash Tottenham this weekend”. talkSPORT’s Paul Hawksbee also asked him whether he is trusted amongst his friends after winning the TV show which requires deception and lies. Clark responded: “Normally I have to give a disclaimer that they can believe everything I’m about to say.
