Davis is set to face Roach on March 1Esther Lin/ PBC While most of these were standard questions, one was very confusing to say the least. Davis and Inoue have previously praised one another in the past. Tank even named the Japanese star as one of his favourite fighters to watch. Despite this, some fans have speculated that Inoue could one day jump up three weight classes to face Davis. And on Thursday, one reporter said to Davis: “Inoue said that there’s nothing that you have that can give him real problems and all you have is power.” Davis instantly looked shocked and asked: “He said that?” The reporter insisted: “Inoue said that yeah.” At this point other reporters chimed in and disagreed, with none of them having seen this supposed quote. Davis replied: “I don’t wanna go crazy. Because there’s no way he said that. “For him to be a boxer like that, there’s no way he could say that.” A few hours later, Inoue clarified the situation himself. He tweeted: “I never said anything like that.” This will not come as a surprise to most boxing fans who have watch Inoue’s interviews previously as he seldom ever has anything negative to say about rival boxers. Both Inoue and Davis have refrained from talking up a potential fight against one another as it is simply unrealistic. The only time Tank addressed it, he left a comment on an Instagram post which read: “I’m not fighting him. He’s NO WHERE near my weight. [I don’t know] why this page keep posting s*** like this.”
