Why Meghan Markle’s High-Low Style in New Show Deserves a Second Look

Meghan Markle‘s very-talked-about new Netflix series With Love, Meghan (which is officially getting a second season, as announced on Friday, March 7), isn’t just a cooking show; it’s a window into her “high-low” signature style, a blend of accessible and luxury brands that defines her post-royal wardrobe.

In episode two, featuring Mindy Kaling, this philosophy is captured perfectly. “Your fashion is one of my favorite things,” Kaling, 45, gushed. “By the way, can I ask you about your lewk?”

“I like high-low,” Markle, 43, replied. After some back-and-forth about what a “lewk” actually is, Markle gave Kaling a full breakdown of her outfit: a Jenni Kayne oatmeal striped sweater ($395), a Loro Piana knit top ($1,325) and Zara pleated pants ($109). Kaling promptly gasped.

As royal fashion watchers can attest, since the Duchess of Sussex has been in the spotlight, she’s always mixed mass and mid-market pieces with luxury items. In With Love, Meghan, she prioritizes comfort over fleeting trends. Banana Republic and other familiar brands appear alongside trendy labels such as Anine Bing and high-end accessories like Hermès loafers.

Despite the Montecito setting, filming occurred in a rented house, allowing Markle to showcase her style in as many as five outfit changes per episode. Style enthusiasts recognized pieces from her own closet, like a Dôen crewneck she wore last month at the Invictus Games.

In season one of her Netflix series, Markle’s outfits bridge the gap between relaxed and refined, seamlessly transitioning from a farmer’s market outing to a formal dinner. She selects her attire to match the mood (and the meal), but most importantly, she chooses them based on the special guests she hosts for each episode.

Whether setting a table or selecting an outfit, Markle creates an inviting atmosphere and an approachable style POV.
