And the perfect setting to pull the ultimate walk-off move. “It is the perfect time to do it,” Cole DeRuse, who runs how bout those CHIEFS on YouTube, exclusively told talkSPORT. “You’re going to walk away with, what, four or five rings at that point? Three in a row. I mean, yeah, it’s the perfect time to do it, because he has everything he could ever imagine after the sport of football.” Kelce entered the 2024 playoffs with 1,004 career receptions for 12,151 yards and 77 touchdowns. He’s a 35-year-old with 10 Pro Bowl selections, four All-Pro honors and an expected Hall of Fame bust. The Ohio native is also dating Taylor Swift, who is widely regarded as the most popular musical artist on the planet. There were rumors that Kelce would retire after the Chiefs won their last Super Bowl. Jason’s younger brother answered the rumors by crisscrossing the globe, enjoying his superstar fame status, cutting his hair and changing his overall look. But by the time training camp began, No. 87 for the Chiefs was back on the field and catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. I mean, they might be thinking some crazy stuff.” Kelce is playing on a two-year, $34.2 million contract that expires after the 2025 season. Meaning that he could easily return next year, no matter what happens in the playoffs. “Here’s the thing,” DeRuse said. “Kelce knows after football he’ll have the podcast. He’ll have entertainment stuff. “He’s in Happy Gilmore 2. He was in that FX horror show. There’s a lot he can do. “But you can always do that after football and he always says, ‘Hey I’m gonna ride this thing until the wheels fall off.’ “He has said that to the media multiple times this year, last year, the year before, when they keep asking him about retirement.” Peyton Manning chose to walk away for good from the NFL after he won Super Bowl 50 with Denver. Tom Brady won six rings with New England, then won another with Tampa Bay, retired and unretired, and played until he was 45. Jason cried after his last game with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, then embraced a TV career with ESPN. Kelce could be two games away from his final NFL game. Or he could keep rolling with the Chiefs until his football wheels finally fall off.
