Max Verstappen has the chance to seal a fourth successive World Drivers’ Championship title under the lights of The Strip this weekend as Formula One returns for the second Las Vegas Grand Prix. Leclerc took pole position on the streets of Las Vegas for the inaugural event last year and emerged victorious from an epic battle with Sergio Perez to claim second in the Grand Prix. He may be out of the running in the World Drivers’ Championship, but the Monegasque has taken two wins and a further four podiums in his last eight Grands Prix, outscoring every other driver on the grid during this period. Lando Norris is second in that particular list, but the Briton crashed out on lap two of this race last year and that bit of extra experience could tip the balance in Leclerc’s favour as he looks to help Ferrari to the World Constructors’ Championship. The Sao Paulo Grand Prix was the first time the Argentine has finished outside the top 12 in his young Formula One career, with two points finishes, an 11th in Singapore, and two 12th-place finishes marking him out as the best teammate Alexander Albon has faced since his Red Bull days. With the rookie hovering on the edge of the points-winning positions, any accidents for the runners ahead of him give him a great chance to move up the rankings. Leclerc can boost Ferrari’s championship hopes

Ferrari endured a difficult Grand Prix in Sao Paulo as Charles Leclerc finished fifth and Carlos Sainz crashed out after 39 laps, but the results from the rain-hit Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace are hardly representative.

An aborted start, two safety cars, a virtual safety car, and a red flag ensured a chaotic afternoon in Brazil, illustrated by the fact that both Alpine drivers ended up on the podium alongside Verstappen.

Rain is not on the cards in the Nevada desert, though, and that should allow the true pace of the cars to be on full display once again, which could hand the advantage to the Scuderia star.

Lando Norris is second in that particular list, but the Briton crashed out on lap two of this race last year and that bit of extra experience could tip the balance in Leclerc’s favour as he looks to help Ferrari to the World Constructors’ Championship.

Colapinto and Hulkenberg to add to points tally

Franco Colapinto had a scruffy Sunday in Sao Paulo as a heavy crash brought out the red flag, but he could be in line to bounce back in Vegas.

The Sao Paulo Grand Prix was the first time the Argentine has finished outside the top 12 in his young Formula One career, with two points finishes, an 11th in Singapore, and two 12th-place finishes marking him out as the best teammate Alexander Albon has faced since his Red Bull days.
