Sebastian Roché is assuring fans that 1923 season 2 won’t disappoint!
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Roché — who plays Father Renaud in the hit Paramount+ series — shared that the events of the upcoming season are “very satisfactory” and will change the show’s characters “forever.”
“For me, season 2 is a season about journeys. All the characters go on a journey and yeah, it's very satisfactory,” Roche, 60, says.
He adds: “I mean, when you read all the scripts, you realize that at the beginning, you were establishing the characters. Of course, Spencer was on a journey back home. But now you realize every character is on a journey of their own and not only a physical but a psychological journey. And these journeys are going to change these people forever.”
Roché went on to discuss his character specifically, noting that he welcomed Father Renaud’s upcoming evolution “wholeheartedly," calling the experience "a great adventure." Emerson Miller/Paramount+ Sebastian Roché as Father Renaud in the series '1923' on Paramount+
“And what I loved about my character is how complex my journey — how transformational Father Renaud's journey is — as he stumbles along in his quest to find this girl. What does she represent? It's a real transformational journey for him,” he continues.
While Roché said he can’t reveal too much about what the upcoming season will bring, he noted that he “had tears in my eyes” when he read the ending. “[Show creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is a romantic at heart and it's beautiful. The way he writes is really in that vein,” he adds.
The French-born actor also revealed that working on a Sheridan show was a dream come true, and that he has been a fan of the Yellowstone creative’s work for years.

“He's a brilliant dialogist — I don't know if you can say that. That's a Frenchism. And his dialogues are second to none. And he doesn't change them. The way he writes them — doesn't change it," he tells PEOPLE. "And so you know that it's set in stone, and his character building is truly exceptional.
