Sarah Ferguson is opening up about her last moments with Queen Elizabeth II.
On Saturday, Dec. 14 the Duchess of York, 65, revealed the touching last words the late monarch said to her ahead of her death, aged 96, in September 2022.
"Sarah, remember that yourself is good enough,” Ferguson said the Queen — whom she called, “Mumma" — said to her before she died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
“She knew me all my life and she loved me,” she added in an interview published in U.K. newspaper The Times.
Ferguson, who was married to Prince Andrew between 1986 and 1996, added that despite their lifelong connection she was still always “nervous” about meeting with Queen Elizabeth.
“She was the Queen of England,” she told The Times.

The late Queen isn’t the only member of the royal family to enjoy a close relationship with Ferguson, who shares daughters Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34, with Andrew.
“I’ve known the King all my life and I absolutely adore him,” the A Woman of Intrigue author told the outlet about King Charles. “He’s kind and makes me laugh and I love that he still calls me Fergie,” she says of her famous nickname.

On Oct. 15. Ferguson’s younger daughter Eugenie wished her mother a happy birthday and shared a previously unseen snap of her in “Grannie” mode.
"Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma. So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are," Eugenie wrote on social media. "You're an inspiration and our endless chats bring me so much happiness and incredible support."
The sweet image seemingly showed the Duchess of York in a garden with Eugenie's second son Ernest, whom she and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed in June. They are also parents to 3-year-old August Philip Hawke.
The heartfelt caption also hinted that the moniker Eugenie and her sister Beatrice used for their grandmother Queen Elizabeth has been passed down through the generations of the family.
After the monarch’s death on Sept. 8 the royal princesses shared a personal tribute to their “Beloved Grannie" and it seems that is how Ferguson is now known to her four grandchildren.
Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi share daughter Sienna, 3, as well as his son Wolfie, 8, from a previous relationship. Beatrice is also currently expecting her second child with Mozzi, whom Buckingham Palace has confirmed is due to arrive in Spring 2025.
