Following the allegations made by Blake Lively, podcaster Elizabeth Day, who interviewed Justin Baldoni earlier this month, has made a stance.
As The Blast reported, the lawsuit filed by Lively accused her "It Ends with Us" co-star of ignoring well-established industry protocols when "filming intimate scenes, and exploited the lack of controls on set to behave inappropriately.”
“Without these protections in place, Mr. Baldoni improvised physical intimacy that had not been rehearsed, choreographed, or discussed with Ms. Lively, with no intimacy coordinator involved,” the lawsuit stated.
Blake Lively also accused Justin Baldoni of orchestrating a smear campaign in an attempt to ruin her career.
Podcaster Removes Justin Baldoni Episode Amid Blake Lively's Lawsuit Filing
Day, who hosts the podcast "How to Fail" and recently interviewed Baldoni, made the decision to cut ties with the "It Ends with Us" actor by deleting the episode.
In a statement, she informed her fans that she wanted "to remove the recent 'How to Fail' interview with Justin Baldoni from all platforms" due to "the distressing allegations made against him in Blake Lively's recent [filing]."
"Every individual has a right to a safe workplace. Every woman has the right to dignity in that workplace," Day wrote in a statement shared on social media. "Every form of abuse should be called out and I salute the individuals who have the courage to do so."
For those who did not have a chance to hear his episode, Baldoni spoke with Day about receiving an ADHD diagnosis at age 40 and said he "had a near breakdown" while directing and starring in "It Ends with Us."
What Is Justin Baldoni Accused Of?
Lively has come forward with serious allegations against her former co-star, claiming she was subjected to repeated instances of sexual harassment during the filming of their latest project. These allegations include inappropriate comments about her appearance, demands for nudity in scenes not requiring it, and even physical misconduct.
“For instance, Mr. Baldoni discreetly bit and sucked on Ms. Lively’s lower lip during a scene in which he improvised numerous kisses on each take," the lawsuit stated. "Mr. Baldoni insisted on shooting the full scene over and over again, well beyond what would have been required on an ordinary set, and without advance notice or consent.”
The lawsuit further claims that Baldoni had "inserted improvised gratuitous sexual content and/or scenes involving nudity into the film (including for an underage character) in highly unsettling ways" without Lively's prior knowledge or consent.
Justin Baldoni's Lawyer Responds To Blake Lively's Accusations
In a statement released on December 23, Bryan Freedman, attorney for Baldoni, addressed Lively's recent allegations. Freedman refuted claims that Baldoni or his team engaged in a smear campaign against Lively, stating that The Agency Group (TAG PR) acted within the scope of their professional duties when representing their client.
He also called Lively's allegations "false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt."
Blake Lively Hopes Her Legal Action Will Make A Difference
Shortly after news broke that Lively filed the lawsuit, she released a statement to The New York Times, where she expressed, "I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted."
Lively's brother-in-law, Bart Johnson, has since spoken out, defending the actress.
“Her complaints were filed during the filming. On record. Long before the public conflict. The cast unfollowed him [Baldoni] for a reason,” he said in a comment shared on an Instagram post. “His PR team was stellar. Gross and disgusting but highly effective. Read the article, their text message exchanges and his PR campaign strategy to bury her by any means necessary. No one is with out [sic] faults. But the public got played.”
Others who have spoken out include Colleen Hoover, author of "It Ends with Us," Lively's "Sisterhood" co-stars, Amber Heard, and Robyn Lively.
Justin Baldoni Has Been Dropped By His Talent Agency
After the allegations surfaced, talent agency WME dropped Baldoni as a client.
According to Daily Mail, the decision was made by WME bosses just hours after Lively's complaints came to light, with the organization choosing to stand by the actress during the ongoing feud.
