Mike Tyson’s son reveals if boxing legend will fight again and lashes back at claims Jake Paul fight was ‘rigged’
Mike Tyson’s son Amir believes his fight with Jake Paul could be his last, but insists it wasn’t fixed. The 58-year-old heavyweight veteran made a stunning return in a sanctioned bout with Paul last month, which was a sad spectacle as he failed to impress and was beaten comfortably on points. Tyson really struggled against PaulGetty Despite looking a shell of his former self, where he reigned as an undisputed champion with an 88 per cent KO ratio in his prime, Tyson suggested he could fight again. He surprisingly called out Paul’s brother Logan, but could receive further backlash from the boxing world if he chooses to take a second consecutive risk. But his son Amir, who was present on fight night, insists that it will likely be his last. “I think he’s done,” Amir said during an interview with Seconds Out. “My stepmom, she’s saying he’s done and they’re a team. That’s husband-and-wife stuff.” Boxing fans had even gone as far as claiming the fight was deliberately ‘rigged’, with neither star able to push for a stoppage. Paul’s promotional outfit Most Valuable Promotions released a statement to vehemently deny the allegations. And now Tyson’s son has too dismissed any notion that the fight was made with a pre-determined outcome. He added: “Some people are on that bogus ‘Oh, it’s rigged’. “We know it wasn’t rigged. He just got tired. Jake would move out the way. Tyson’s son was not impressed with claims the fight was riggedAmir Tyson - Instagram “It looked like he pulled his punches back but Jake’s moving. It’s not like the pads, he’s moving. “When someone doesn’t want to accept that someone lost, when it doesn’t go that way of course they’re going to pull that. And that’s what they’re putting on the internet. “His gas tank after the third round was just shot. That’s all it was. He just kept on staying throughout. “He did his best. No holding back, he did the best he could at his age.” Tyson had faced a turbulent build-up to the clash, having been forced to pull out of the clash once before when it was originally scheduled in July. He also appeared to be carrying a knee injury in the fight, and he massively struggled to maintain any early momentum over the eight-round distance. It is now extremely unlikely Tyson will box againAl Bello/Getty Images for Netflix In a worrying admission which could spell an end to any return, he admitted he nearly died during the build-up. “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson said. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. “I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. “Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”
