Payne and the former star of "The Osbournes" had been vocal about their respective sobriety journeys. The "Stack It Up" singer had been open about his mental health, sharing occasional updates on social media. In an Instagram story from last year, Payne revealed he had hit "rock bottom" before a US-based rehab stay. He shared that he had been nervous about sharing his story publicly.

Osbourne, 40, has also been quite open about her own experience with drug addiction. The "Shut Up" singer recently shared experts of her four-year sobriety journey with Us Weekly.

"It's been a rocky road for me," the podcaster told the publication. "Most days are great, but every now and then, I’ll get one really bad day where it’s hard to pull myself out. My natural habitual instinct is to numb myself because I don’t have to see the pain and I don’t have to feel unworthy. I can just hibernate."

"But, you can't do that when you have a baby," the new mother went on to say. "You absolutely cannot. Finding other ways of getting through those hard days can be difficult sometimes."

Sidney, whom she shares with her partner and Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, will turn two in a few weeks.

Osbourne shared her heart with the aforementioned publication, revealing how she felt upon hearing the news of the former boyband member's passing.

While it's unclear whether the pair spoke regularly, Osbourne and Payne spoke shortly before his death, according to the "7D" actress.

"He was checking on me to make sure I was okay," she told Us Weekly.

"The fact there was nobody there just breaks my heart," she added.

Osbourne also mentioned Payne had been "in a good place" when they spoke, but she did not reveal any additional details about their conversation.

Payne had clearly made his mark on the Osbourne family.

Osbourne's mother, Sharon, took to Instagram on October 17th and shared a black-and-white photo of the star looking pensive.

The 72-year-old TV personality wrote, "Liam, my heart aches. We all let you down. Where was this industry when you needed them? You were just a kid when you entered one of the toughest industries in the world. Who was in your corner? Rest in peace, my friend."

The post was 'liked' by Paris Hilton and inspired a lengthy conversation in the comments section.

"The poor darling soul should never have been left alone, the signs were screaming out for all to see, and in those last moments his mind would have switched and sadly there can be no return. Mental health is still regarded as a selfish disease and this assumption needs to STOP," a fan wrote.

"Watching your child be destroyed by this industry must be the hardest thing for any parent including Liam's! remembering that first moment when you were bursting with pride watching them on stage for the first time excited for their future for it all to end like this!" another commentator shared.

Since the news of his passing, other celebrities have opened up and paid tribute to the late singer. Payne's former bandmate, Zayn Malik, shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, featuring an old photo of the duo from their One Direction days.

Malik announced he would be postponing his tour in honor of his friend. The "I Don't Want To Live Forever" attributed the cancelation to the "heartbreaking loss" following Payne's passing. The tour was due to begin during the latter half of October.

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean honored Payne, calling him a "light." McLean, who worked with Payne on a new Netflix series, revealed he had not seen any "warning signs" in his friend. He did say he thought they both had shared some "similarities" regarding McLean's own past struggles with addiction.

"Addiction is a real thing. Fortunately, I came out the other end, but I’m one of few," the "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" singer told TMZ.

Last year, Osbourne got candid in a conversation with "Vanderpump Rules" star Scheana Shay. The two discussed Osbourne's postpartum weight loss and the feelings that the new mother felt along the way.

The former "Fashion Police" star revealed her goal to lose her baby weight but admits to "going too far" with her goal.

"Then I was like, 'Well, I lost all the baby weight. Let’s see how far I can go with it," Osbourne told Shay. "And then I went a little too far," she said. Osbourne was also honest in admitting she stayed out of the public eye for nine months for fear of criticism over her pregnancy body.

Osbourne co-hosts a podcast alongside her family wherein the rockers look back on their kooky lives within the spotlight.
