In his Netflix special, "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...," Foxx credited Anelise with helping to save his life by playing her guitar at his bedside. The then-14-year-old is credited for regulating his vital signs as Foxx was unconscious following a stroke.

"My vitals are so bad, they're going to lose me," said Foxx in his Netflix special. "That's when a miracle happened, and that miracle was working through my youngest daughter."

"She's 14 – I didn't want her to see me like that," he continued. "But she snuck into my hospital room with my guitar. 'I know what my daddy needs.'"

"When she was playing, my vitals… went down… it was God in that guitar," he added. "Spiritual defibrillator."

Foxx also brought Anelise to the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, as well as his 30-year-old daughter, Corinne Foxx. The trio attended the event in Los Angeles on Jan. 5.

The "Ray" actor also credited Corinne in his Netflix special for keeping the details of his condition private as she provided the public with updates. Foxx suffered from a brain bleed on April 11, 2023, that led to a stroke. He was in a coma for 20 days and had to learn how to walk again. The comedian shared the details of his illness in his special, "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was..."

"They held me the f-ck down," he said in his special. "Nobody sees him. They cut it all off. They didn’t want you to see me like that and I didn’t want you to see me like that. I wanted you to see my like this."

Foxx shared a picture of his daughters attending the Golden Globes with him on Instagram on Jan. 6.

"Me with my two beautiful daughters globetrotting at the @goldenglobes … a proud father daughter moment Anelise Estelle and @corinnefoxx so beautiful and fearless," he wrote. "When I was asked on the carpet, what do you think about the awards? I said I have already won to be here with my two girls. Standing upright. Standing with so much love. It’s not my award. It’s my reward. God is good and I think you know the rest.
