‘I’ll be honest’ – Luke Littler reveals immediate reaction to shock Luke Humphries elimination

Had Humphries won, he would have been one quarter-final victory over Stephen Bunting away from meeting ‘The Nuke’ in the semi-final. It was a stunning elimination, which now leaves the field open for a new champion to step up and claim the crown. Littler was asked if he managed to watch the match, after his own 4-3 victory over Ryan Joyce to take his own step to the quarter final stage. He said during his post-match press conference: “I’ll be honest, I fell asleep for the whole evening session last [Sunday] night. “I think it was like 7 o’clock to about two in the morning. I had a sleep. “And then I checked my phone. I checked Instagram, Peter’s won, I was like: Really? “Then I just stayed up for a bit and, obviously, I got my head back down. “I think there would be expectation on me anyway no matter what even if Luke got through. But yeah now it is Nathan [Aspinall] that stands in the way.” Humphries’ failure to defend his title means Littler is the current highest ranked player left in the tournament at a live status of No.2 on the PDC Order Of Merit. Now ‘Cool Hand’ is out, the pressure is ramping up from the world for him to deliver, and he has done exactly that so far in the tournament.
