President-elect Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. is visiting Greenland amid his father's renewed interest in the territory.
Donald's eldest son arrived in Greenland's capital of Nuuk on Tuesday, Jan. 7, local outlets reported, on his father's plane, "Trump Force One."
His trip to the autonomous region — a Danish territory — comes after Donald repeatedly expressed his desire to acquire Greenland for the United States.

Greenland officials will not meet with Don Jr., the territory's government said in a statement. Neither party requested a meeting, said Mininnguaq Kleist, the permanent secretary for Greenland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs department. He told the Associated Press that Greenland authorities understood Don. Jr's visit would last four to five hours.
"The visit of Donald Trump Jr. is a private visit and that is being respected by Naalakkersuisut — the Government of Greenland. Therefore, there will also not be reactions to the visit," Kleist told CBS News. "Our country is open for visits, and visitors are welcome in our beautiful country."
The AP reported that Don Jr. is on a day trip to collect video content for podcasting.
In his first term, the president-elect expressed a desire to acquire Greenland, though Danish officials quickly shut down the idea. Nevertheless, Donald fueled ongoing speculation that he has his sights on the territory.
"I am hearing that the people of Greenland are 'MAGA.' My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights," the president-elect wrote on Truth Social on Jan. 6, one day before his son's trip.
He continued, "Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!"

Greenland has become a point of interest for Russia, China and the U.S. alike, as its location — situated between the U.S. and Europe, and its proximity to the Arctic — makes the region strategically significant. Its oil, natural gas and mineral resources are also internationally attractive, CBS News reported.
However, Prime Minister Mute Egede said in a statement in December, “Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale," per Reuters.
