Burnley to beat Stoke at home (Wed, 3pm) Burnley extended their current unbeaten run to 11 matches over the period between Christmas and New Year, including a statement victory away at league leaders Sheffield United which leaves them within two points of the automatic promotion places. Meanwhile Stoke make the trip to Lancashire having won just one of their last 10 matches and sit only four points above the relegation zone. The Clarets are unbeaten at Turf Moor in all competitions this season while the Potters have lost each of their last three matches on the road. 2. West Brom to beat Preston at home (Wed, 3pm) West Brom head into the new year having lost just two of their last 16 matches of 2024, and currently find themselves just a point behind the top six as they seek promotion back into the Premier League. The Baggies are currently unbeaten in their last seven matches at the Hawthorns, where Preston will visit on New Year’s Day having won only once away from home in the league all season so far. The Lancashire side make the trip to the West Midlands in 14th place, seven points shy of their opponents on Wednesday afternoon. 3. Wycombe to beat Exeter at home (Wed, 3pm) Wycombe head into 2025 having lost only one of their last 20 league matches of 2024, a barnstorming run which sees them start the year in third place in League One, just a point off the automatic promotion places and two points behind league leaders Birmingham. They take on an Exeter side with just two wins in their last nine matches in the league which has seen them drop into the bottom half of the third tier table and into 13th place. The Chairboys are unbeaten at home in the league since their opening home game of the season. 4. Crewe to beat Carlisle at home (Wed, 3pm) Just one defeat in League Two since September leaves Crewe one point off second place in the standings heading into the New Year. The Cheshire side have lost just once at home in the league all season and that came back in their opening home fixture of the season on the second day of the campaign.
