Alec Baldwin Was Reportedly Skeptical Of Upcoming Reality Series: 'Not Comfortable' With Spotlight
Alec Baldwin was reportedly "not comfortable" with the idea of a reality series starring his wife and seven children.
Actor Alec Baldwin may have spent plenty of time in front of the camera on "30 Rock" but that doesn't mean he's comfortable with cameras being placed inside the New York City home he shares with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and their seven children.
Although the couple has never been shy about sharing their big family on social media, it seems the actor was a bit skeptical before he signed on for a reality series starring his large family.
Alec Baldwin Was Initially Skeptical About A Reality Series Starring His Family
Although it is unclear what period of time the reality series will cover, on November 11, the "Beetlejuice" actor teased when the show will premiere.
"Coming out in January, I think," the actor told the Associated Press.
Although Baldwin is no stranger to improv during his long tenure on "Saturday Night Live," he was asked what it was like to film a show without a script.
"I wasn't very fun," he joked, adding, "Just tell me what to do!"
Is Alec Baldwin Afraid Of Making His Private Life Public?
Although the actor is not shy about sharing birthday parties and family trips on his Instagram page, he was reportedly concerned about entering the spotlight. One source told People magazine that the "Supercell" actor was "not as comfortable in the spotlight" while filming the new reality show and "needed a bit of convincing to do the show" before he finally signed on.
It seems that Hilaria might have played a major role in convincing her husband to take part in the show, in order to share their "strong marriage" with the world.
“The best part about them is that they don't fudge the bad," the insider explained. "They are very honest about how messy life is, but they see it as a beautiful mess."
Alec Baldwin Shares Seven Children With Wife Hilaria Baldwin
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are parents to seven children: Ilaria Catalina Irena, 19 months, María Lucía Victoria, 3, Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas, 3, Romeo Alejandro David, 5, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7, Rafael Thomas, 8, and Carmen Gabriela, 10. The 66-year-old actor also has another daughter, model Ireland Baldwin, 28, with his ex-wife, "Batman" actress Kim Basinger.
A source previously told People magazine that Hilaria was "excited" to let the world see into her living room. “She can't wait to share more about her family life,” the insider said. “She knows she lives a privileged life, but she still has to juggle and prioritize like many moms.”
“Family life with all the kids is chaotic. But Hilaria is great at managing everything,” the source added.
Hilaria Baldwin Wants To Use The Show To Show What A 'Strong Marriage' Looks Like
The insider said that Hilaria is hoping to use the show to advocate "for moms getting their ‘me time' too,” and "prioritizing" both "solo time with Alec," as well as "her own health and wellness."
“She'll share her everyday tips how to balance life,” the source continued, noting that the former yoga instructor is "a huge believer that a strong marriage makes everyone happier.”
Although Alec told the Associated Press that he isn't "fun" in front of the camera, an insider told People magazine that Hilaria and Alec are very “fun together” and “watching them together as a team will be a treat.”
'The Baldwins' Was First Announced In November
The publication first announced that Alec Baldwin and his family would be starring in their own reality series in November 2024. At the time, a source shared that the couple were "pitching a family reality show that would give an inside look at their life."
At the time, an insider explained, "They're excited but would only do it if it was an authentic portrayal of who they are as a family."
"The kids all have such fun personalities and Hilaria and Alec know how much interest there is in their lives," the source continued, noting that both parents wanted to give viewers "a behind-the-scenes look at raising a big family."
Although no official release date has been set, "The Baldwins" is expected to air on TLC in 2025.
