WWE grand-slam champion to follow Triple H’s footsteps and step into new ‘leader’ role
If you’re looking for a locker room leader in WWE, look no further than Bayley. Since debuting with the developmental brand, NXT, back in 2013, she has gone on to achieve it all in professional wrestling. Bayley is ready to take on a leadership role in WWEGetty Bayley was at the forefront of the Women’s Evolution in the WWE Universe and was the promotion’s first-ever female grand slam champion. She has also won the Women’s Royal Rumble match, held the Money in the Bank briefcase, and appeared at multiple WrestleMania events. With over a decade of experience in WWE, and plenty of gold to boast, Bayley is now a veteran in the locker room – and is looking to take on ‘more of a leadership role’ moving forward. Speaking to The Five Count podcast, she revealed that she is now focused on helping a new generation of women succeed in professional wrestling. “When I came back from injury in 2022, or the end of 2021, my main goal was not to become a champion again,” Bayley said. “I felt that I had already gotten that out of my system and accomplished a bunch of title runs. I really just wanted to see the women that I was with succeed – which were Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai. “Just be that leader that can push them in the right direction or be a foundation of where they started on Raw and SmackDown. From that, I really learned how much I enjoyed helping younger talent.” Bayley went on to clarify that she still intends to compete in the ring, and would enjoy a role that helps grow the women’s division both on and off screen. “For me, 2025 can be more of a leadership role,” she continued. “Not that I’m going to be out of the ring, but my goal is more bigger picture type things where I want to see the women’s division keep continuing the success that we’ve had these last few years and really start to take over and main event more shows. Bayley is working behind the scenes to help the next generation of women shine in WWEGetty “Wherever I can fit in on that, I’ll do my best at.” Bayley’s comments suggest she could follow in the footsteps of Paul ‘Triple H‘ Levesque, who is now WWE’s Chief Content Officer. He spent more than two decades on WWE TV, working as an in ring talent before transitioning to an on-screen ‘Authority’ figure. Triple H was key behind-the-scenes during that time too, as the founder and executive producer of NXT since its inception in 2010, before taking on his CCO role. And now Bayley, someone who came through that developmental branch of WWE, has a chance to do something similar. She is already making strides, and according to Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, is already thriving as a locker room leader. Bayley has been credited as a locker room leader by WWE Champion RhodesGetty She could follow in the footsteps of Triple H “Here’s the thing I don’t think people know about Bayley – she’s probably the actual current locker room leader,” Rhodes revealed. “Like, if you’ve got a captain, you know, the ‘C’ on the jersey, it’s probably her and Randy Orton. “In terms of, you need something done, ‘Hey, such and such doesn’t need to be late anymore. Hey, we need energy for this show.’ She’s the locker room leader.” With Bayley working hard both in front and behind the cameras, it’s clear the next generation of WWE stars are in good hands.
