American actress Tia Mowry has spoken about her co-parenting journey and life as a single mom in a recent post on Instagram.
Tia notably never hesitates to share intimate details about her personal life with fans, and has done so since becoming a single parent.
The mother of two was married to her ex-husband, Cory Hardrict, for 14 years before announcing their split in October 2022.
Tia Mowry Admits Co-Parenting During The Holidays Can Be 'Lonely'
On Monday, Tia took to her Instagram page to share pictures of herself and her kids, son Cree, 23, and daughter Cairo, 6.
In the post's caption, the "Sister, Sister" star opened up about her experience co-parenting amid the holiday season.
She began, "Happy Holidays from my family to yours! Co-parenting during the holidays is a journey—one that's filled with a mix of emotions. It's different, and yes, it can feel challenging and even lonely at times, especially when you're adjusting to a new family dynamic."
Tia shared that she had found the beauty in co-parenting over time because it allowed her kids to "build meaningful relationships with both parents."
The actress also noted that it helped her create space for "self-discovery, healing, and rejuvenation."
Tia Mowry Says She Feels The 'Weight' As A Single Mom
The 46-year-old mom admitted, "As a single mom, I sometimes feel the weight because our family doesn't look like others."
However, she noted that it was okay to be different because it didn't mean they were less. She said the most important thing is "keeping the traditions alive" for her kids because they remain a family no matter what.
Tia concluded her post with a message to those "navigating co-parenting or a new chapter" during the holiday season.
She wrote, "Know that you're not alone. There's joy to be found, even in the transitions. Let's keep creating those special moments for our kids, no matter what."
Tia Mowry Admits 'Being Alone' Is The Hardest Part Of Her Divorce
On September 20, a teaser for We TV's "Tia Mowry: My Next Act" was released and showed Tia confessing about the difficulties she faced following her divorce from Hardrict.
She said, "Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce. It's times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close, and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that's just not where we are right now."
Tia's comments sparked concerns among fans about her relationship with her twin sister Tamera Mowry, with whom she rose to fame while they starred on the '90s sitcom, "Sister, Sister."
However, an insider told E! News, "The sisters are close, but the quote being referenced was about their physical location—Tamera lives in Napa, and Tia lives in Los Angeles."
Tia Opens Up About Reason For Her And Hardrict's Divorce
When Tia Mowry filed for divorce in 2022, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her and Cory Hardrict's split. However, months later, she shed more light on their separation.
In November 2022, Tia appeared on Today and disclosed when she knew her 14-year marriage was ending.
She said, "I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness. I feel like women, we tend to focus on everybody else's happiness, making sure that everybody else is OK—meaning our children, our friends, our family. But at the end of the day, it's about self-love."
Tia stressed that a sudden awakening occurs when "you start to really work on yourself, love yourself, know your value, know your worth."
In "Tia Mowry: My Next Act," Tia said per E! News, "I got tired of not being authentic and living in my truth. I got tired of showing up at events and people thinking everything was perfect when it wasn't."
Tia Says Her Kids Played A Role In Her Decision To Split From Hardrict
During a June 2023 interview with Hello Beautiful, Tia Mowry explained that a part of her decision to divorce was for her kids.
She shared, "For them, seeing their mother walk in truth. I feel like it's a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision."
Tia admitted that deciding to divorce was one of the hardest decisions she made in her life. Hence, if her kids saw that she could do it despite people's thoughts and doubts, they could say, "Mommy is living and chasing her truth."
The proud mom also said she wants her children to carve their own paths, as it is the best gift she can give them.
She explained, "I want for them not to live a life that I want them to live, for them not to live a life that everybody else wants them to live or what they think that they should be or live."
"The Game" actress expressed her desire for her kids to "see that it is okay to have a bad day." She concluded, "I want them to see that it is okay to chase your joy. I want them to see that it is okay to live your truth."
