According to Gypsy, her mother didn’t enjoy the sensation of the baby moving inside her and chose not to have a baby shower. “I’m starting to notice things about myself that are different from my mother even in my pregnancy,” she revealed as she opened up about her own pregnancy. “My mother didn’t like being pregnant.”

“So even those little things that I’m doing in my pregnancy, I’m doing different from her,” she explained, stressing that she has no plans to expose her child to the same harmful treatment she endured from her mother. “I also have something that my mother didn’t have, which is a really good support system. They’re there to support me and guide me.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard confirmed her pregnancy in 2024, representing a new phase in her life following her release from prison in December 2023. The child is her first, conceived with her fiancé, Ken Urker, after re-establishing their relationship post-divorce from Ryan Anderson earlier in the year.

Gypsy has communicated intentions to provide an optimal upbringing for her child, contrasting the negative experiences associated with her own childhood under the control of her mother. The 33-year-old has been open about her plans to give her child the kind of loving, supportive upbringing she never had. Embracing traditional pregnancy milestones, including a baby shower—something her own mother skipped—she’s determined to create a family environment free from the trauma she endured.

For Gypsy, this pregnancy isn’t just about starting a family; it’s about building a brighter, healthier future. “I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother,” she said when announcing the news, adding that she hopes to “be everything my mother wasn’t.”
