The Best Men’s Outfits of 2024
StyleHigh fashion on a Brooklyn stoop. Cyberpunk steez at the Paris Olympics. Fisherman sandals with a tux on the red carpet. In 2024 our biggest dressers reaffirmed that style inspiration can—and should—strike anywhere.By Eileen CartterDecember 9, 2024From left: WWD/Getty Images; Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images; Andres Tardio.Save this storySaveSave this storySaveTaylor Russell & Harry StylesNYC, MarchSplashNews.comFor one brief, shining moment, Harry Styles and Taylor Russell were fashion’s most promising power couple. Taylor Russell & Harry Styles
NYC, March
For one brief, shining moment, Harry Styles and Taylor Russell were fashion’s most promising power couple. Before the global pop sensation and the indie-darling actor parted ways in late spring after nearly a year of dating, they left their mark with a showstopping set of daytime-casual outfits—mostly by The Row and Loewe, though her trench is vintage Armani—worn while descending the steps of a friend’s Brooklyn brownstone. (Be sure to peep the four four-figure bags between them.) Relationships come and go, but it appears quiet luxury is here to stay.
Daniel Craig
Paris, September
What if Bond moved to the Hudson Valley, joined a co-op, and got really into raising chickens? Seems like Daniel Craig—who looked serene in a kooky knit sweater and generous cargo pants (plus a faceful of stubble) at Loewe’s spring show—is clearly enjoying the post-franchise life. Months earlier, the Queer star went viral for rocking a similar fit (and that same stubble) in the label’s fall campaign.
Tracy Chapman
LA, February
The crowd lost it when the legendary singer-songwriter appeared on the Grammys stage in a custom Prada shirt and blue jeans for a surprise performance of her generational 1988 hit “Fast Car” alongside country superstar Luke Combs. (The look was a resplendent nod to the bare-bones look she wore while performing the Grammy-winning track on the same stage 36 years prior.) The simplicity of the ensemble reminded us that while this current era of anything-goes style is wickedly fun and we wouldn’t trade that for the world, what made Tracy Chapman so breathtaking was that she dressed with a spirit that’s rare these days: dignity.
Kaia Gerber
NYC, April
Who better than an It girl to officially debut what would become the most coveted kicks of the year: the Bode x Nike Astrograbbers, a retro silhouette accented with football-shaped lace charms.
Doja Cat & Joseph Quinn
London, August
The pop provocateur, in a sheer crop top and pleated leather skirt, and the Stranger Things actor, in a Saks Potts shirt and high-rise slacks, walking hand in hand? A hot new celebrity- couple bombshell has entered the villa.
Matty Matheson
LA, January
The Canadian chef, who parlays his real-life kitchen experience into his role as friendly handyman Neil Fak on FX’s The Bear, is already an established menswear gourmand. But having both the chutzpah to accessorize his Emmys tux with Church’s fisherman sandals and fresh white socks and the skill to pull it off? Chef’s kiss.
Kendrick Lamar
LA, June
In Kendrick Lamar’s year of relentless mic drops—sartorial and otherwise—our favorite was the deceptively simple outfit (light-wash jeans, luxe red hoodie from The Row) he wore during his “Pop Out” victory-lap concert this summer. But it was his choice to wear a pair of perennially maligned Nike Shox that delivered the final blow. Behold: the new official shoe of hating.
Jeremy Allen White & Rosalía
LA, July
If the Avril Lavigne lyric “He was a punk / She did ballet” became sentient, entered its early 30s, and developed a taste for chain-smoking Camel Lights in the romantic glow of a parking lot streetlamp, it might resemble the unlikely—if fleeting—coupling of Brooklynite actor Jeremy Allen White and Catalan pop star Rosalía. On a toasty LA day this summer, the now former couple looked cooler than ever; nothing says “gritty and romantic” quite like a threadbare muscle tee and some studded ballet flats.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Indianapolis, February
The tunnel-fit god honored the late Virgil Abloh with this souped-up Gruppo Vava letterman jacket covered in candy-hued V patches, which matched his Chrome Hearts trousers. Hey, SGA didn’t win GQ’s Most Stylish NBA Player reader poll—twice!—for wearing plain ol’ jeans and T-shirts.
Matty Healy
LA, June
If The 1975’s charmingly trollish frontman had you considering buying his exact pair of $30 barefoot booties off of Amazon—even for a second!—then, well, the joke’s on you. Those weirdly chic vintage Adidas track flares, though, are another story.
Jacob Elordi
Milan, September
Days before wrapping his portrayal of Frankenstein’s pallid monster in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming adaptation, the famously six-foot-five Jacob Elordi looked relaxed and sun-kissed at Bottega Veneta’s spring show. The actor, who inked a brand ambassadorship with the Italian label this year, carried a lipstick-red intrecciato tote fastened with a dog-shaped charm. Not a neck bolt in sight!
Adan Banuelos & Bella Hadid
NYC, September
The horse-loving supermodel (who moved to Fort Worth, Texas, during a hiatus from modeling this year) and her equestrian-pro boyfriend lent some country to the city in their matching Western belt buckles, hip-huggers, and cowboy hats. Call it bliss-induced cowboycore.
Post Malone
Las Vegas, February
A month before Posty collaborated with Beyoncé on a song called “Levii’s Jeans,” he wore a killer pair of Wranglers while trilling a rendition of “America the Beautiful” ahead of Super Bowl LVIII. The turquoise bolo tie was a nice touch too.
Willem Dafoe
Paris, October
Twelve years after walking Prada’s fall 2012 runway, the character actor par excellence closed the spring 2025 show for sister brand Miu Miu in a sharp navy coat, sheeny gray trousers, and buckled boots. The catwalk appearance felt like the only natural follow-up to Dafoe’s sheepishly fly run-in with viral fit-check TikTok account The People Gallery back in March, when the actor fessed up to wearing nearly head-to-toe Prada on a casual afternoon out in Manhattan.
Stefon Diggs
NYC, May
For his first red carpet as a Houston Texan, the star wide receiver—and overall best-dressed player in the NFL—hit his second-ever Met Gala in a custom glittering set by H&M. But all extracurricular events (including fashion’s biggest night) aside, Diggs insists that dressing up during the football season is merely par for the course now. “With 82 games to get fits off, I guarantee you’ll get one or two off,” he told GQ this fall.
Kim Yeji
Paris, July
One moment the South Korean sharpshooter Kim Yeji was winning a silver medal in an air pistol event at the 2024 Paris Olympics; the next, the entire internet was clamoring for her to be cast as a swaggy John Wick villain. In a year when Gen Z canonized the value of “aura,” no one exuded more rizz than the athlete with her zipped-up Fila anorak, sci-fi-esque wire-rimmed shooting glasses, and stuffed elephant charm.
Paul Mescal
New York, March
The Gladiator II star may be one of Hollywood’s most aspirationally well-dressed men—but on that one night in March, all he needed was a cropped hoodie, a Sweetgreen bag, and a dream.
