St. Louis Blues at Calgary Flames preview Jim Montgomery has his players buying into this approach as the Blues captured the full two points against the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday evening. Under the new coach, the Blues have registered a point in their last four games going (3-0-1).  The Calgary Flames snapped their four-game losing streak on an emotional night honouring and celebrating the Gaudreau family. St. Louis Blues at Calgary Flames predictions  An integral part of the Blues’ 4-1 win over Winnipeg, was the play in blue paint by Joel Hofer. The 24-year-old stopped 22 of 23 shots he faced in net in his eighth start of the year. In 46 career games played, the netminder has 1173 total saves giving him an all-time save percentage of .909 percent.  Jordan Kyrou picked up his first multi-goal performance since opening night in the NHL. The center now has nine goals to his season total with a career total of 123 tallys in 360 regular season outings.  A move the Oilers might regret that is now benefiting the Blues is the offer sheet signing of Dylan Holloway. Already surpassing career highs in most stat categories, the 23-year-old has eight goals and seven assists in 26 appearances. Holloway is on a personal hot streak, amassing seven points in his last four games. Going pointless in his previous three games, the Flames captain, Mikael Backlund picked up two assists, which included setting up the winning goal. From the dot Backlund won 80 percent of his faceoffs going 12-for-15.  Despite playing a well-rounded game against Columbus, Nazem Kadri, the Flames leading goal-getter this season failed to light the lamp as his two-game scoring streak was snapped. With eight goals to his name, Kadri also has matching numbers of assists through 26 games. St. Louis Blues at Calgary Flames tips This matchup between these two has recently been dominated by the visitors in fresh memory. The Blues have gotten the better of the Flames on seven of the last eight occasions. In spite of the Blues owing the Flames of late, it can’t be overlooked that the Saddledome ice has been an advantage for Calgary as they have won 10 of 13 home games.  A trend that favours both sides is their ability to grind out their opponents and win in lower-scoring fashion. 13 of the last 18 games for the Flames have resulted in the under hitting, while for St. Louis five of their last six went below the total mark. The Flames’ net presence is a huge advantage as their goalie tandem has a combined GAA of 2.63 and a .911 save percentage.  Since Jim Montgomery has taken over the reins behind the bench, the Blues are only allowing an average of 1.5 goals per game. We feel in Thursday’s encounter that the scorers’ sheet will be infrequently filled out as both clubs play a gritty style of hockey with a defence-first emphasis.
