Simone Biles Says She ‘Almost S--- Myself’ After Close Encounter with a Lion During Honeymoon Safari

The Olympic gold medalist and her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, finally took their honeymoon after tying the knot two years ago

Simone Biles and husband Jonathan Owens finally went on their honeymoon after two years of marriage!

Biles shared photos from their trip to Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 16, documenting their travels as they flew from the U.S. to South Africa. She began the series with pictures of herself and the Chicago Bears player surrounded by multiple giant suitcases as well as several adorable snaps from the airplane.

The 27-year-old gold medalist then shared a photo of herself and Owens clinking champagne flutes with a hotel suite in the background. “Made it to south africa,” she wrote across the image in pink lettering.

The following day, Biles shared videos from from her and Owens' “first game drive” — which is a guided tour through a wildlife reserve. The couple saw giraffes, elephants, leopards and — yes — a real-life lion.

“Not gonna lie I almost s—” myself,” Biles joked in the caption of a video featuring a male lion slinking past their vehicle.

Biles and Owens, 29, first met in 2020 and were engaged in February 2022. The couple tied the knot a little over a year later in April 2023 at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston. A few weeks later, they hosted a second wedding celebration in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

While speaking to the Texas Monthly in June 2021, Owens revealed that he actually didn’t know who Biles was when they first met.

"I just hadn't heard of her, and when I told her that, that's one of the things she liked,” he revealed.

The ensuing years since their wedding have been jammed packed, with Owens leaving the Green Bay Packers and signing a two-year free-agent contract with the Chicago Bears. Biles, meanwhile, competed in the Paris Summer Olympics — where Owens was there to cheer her on every step of the way.

Biles joked earlier in February that she still hasn't fully unpacked from the Olympics, where she cemented herself as the greatest of all time gymnast after winning three gold medals and one silver, for a career total of 11.
