Scheana Shay wrote a book!

The Vanderpump Rules star, 39, announced on the Jan. 24 episode of her Shenanigans with Scheana Shay podcast that she has a memoir in the works, titled My Good Side. Shay's book, set to release on July 22, is a candid account of the reality personality's life — from "literally before birth" to "as recent as a month ago" — on and off screen, Shay said.

"This is something I've literally wanted to do my entire life — like, it has always been a dream of mine," Shay shared. "I loved English class and journalism and all of that in school. I used to write for the school newspaper, and I was like, one day, I'm going to write a book."

Shay originally thought the right time to start writing her book was when Vanderpump Rules was over, "not that it's necessarily a tell-all," she added. The star decided to meet with agents about a year ago to just get the process started, but then the show was rebooted for season 12 — "and now I have a book."

When asked who she was most nervous about reading it, Shay said she didn't want to name names.

"Because, I mean, I do talk about everyone and everything," she said. "And it's really just all sides of me. The good, the bad, things that you've seen on the show with more explanation. And it's not me trying to be like, 'I want everyone to love me after this book.' I would like to be more understood."

Her memoir is her "most raw, vulnerable state," Shay said — and that's the whole point. She wants her story to communicate to others that being completely honest, "to put yourself all the way out there," is a good thing.

The book's final acknowledgement goes to her daughter, Shay said. The reality star hopes when her daughter grows up and reads her mother's book, she's proud.

She's been excited to announce her memoir for some time now, Shay shared, but the timing just felt off. In December, she had the announcement all ready to go when a fellow cast member was arrested, she said — referencing James Kennedy, who was arrested but will not be charged on suspicion of domestic violence.

Shay delayed the announcement a second time out of respect for the devastation caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles, she added.
