Robbie Williams Recalls His Most Embarrassing Moment on Stage (and It’s Not When He Pooped His Pants)

The British singer discussed his most embarrassing gig on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on Monday, Jan. 13

Robbie Williams is sharing another embarrassing performance story!

The singer, 50, said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Monday, Jan. 13, that he once taunted a group of fans at his show for not standing up — in what turned out to be his most mortifying moment on stage.

“I confused the wheelchair section in my show for people who weren't standing up and enjoying themselves,” Williams told host Andy Cohen. “And I berated them and I got the whole audience to point at them and boo and then stamp their feet and go, ‘Out! Out! Out!’ ”

Cohen, 56, shook his head as fellow guest Julia Stiles gasped along with the audience in reaction to the story.

“And then I looked over to the side of the stage and my manager was there going like this [motioning waving arms] and he went [motioning pushing a wheelchair],” continued Williams. “And I was like, ‘Oh … okay.’ ”

Despite the huge blunder, Williams said he was somehow able to quickly win the crowd back during the performance. “The way you get out of that is by a ballad,” he said. “Definitely by doing ‘Angels,’ ” referring to his 1997 hit song. 

The “Feel” singer added that the incident “happened before phones,” to which Cohen and Stiles, 43, both replied, “Thank god!”

In an Instagram post shared in August 2023, Williams revealed in another embarrassing on-stage moment that he pooped himself during a performance with his band Take That.

Williams posted a cartoon that read, "Sometimes your favorite artists fart on stage" as he explained in the caption that he had "horrendous" food poisoning during the British pop band’s reunion tour. 

“A few days later we were playing at the Ajax stadium in Amsterdam," Williams wrote. "Still not anywhere near well enough I ventured to the stage. I was in the precarious position of not being able to ‘trust a fart.' Which was unfortunate because that’s what I needed to do during my opening song. Let me entertain you."

"As I’m sure you can imagine, it didn’t remain just a fart. But ever the pro I retained my composure and committed to the performance 100%," recalled the singer, adding, “A gig parp any other time can be liberating.”
