Progresso’s latest product doesn’t require a spoon.
The brand is launching its Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup in an unexpected format: hard-candy “drops.”
In a press release shared with PEOPLE, Progresso said the limited-edition item was timed to both National Soup Month and the height of cold and flu season, when “most folks flock to the cough drop aisle.”
While the release adds that soup lovers “certainly can reach for the real thing if you’re looking for that feeling of a hug in a bowl,” the drops were made with both comfort and convenience in mind. The individually wrapped candies can be easily toted around on cold days, and popped on the go with no preparation.

Progresso’s Soup Drops, which mark the first time the brand has produced its soups in candy form, pack all the familiar flavors their soups are known for.
PEOPLE got an early sample of the drops, which tasted surprisingly similar to the classic chicken noodle soup.
Bursting with sweet-meets-savory flavor, they featured recognizable notes of broth, chicken, vegetables, noodles and even parsley, but the seasoning wasn’t overpowering.

Progresso recommends sucking on the drops “in the carpool line, during a grocery run, while folding laundry, sitting at the doctor's office or hiding out under the covers.”
Each order of 20 drops comes in a container resembling Progresso’s actual soup cans and is accompanied by a can of actual Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup. The cost of both is $2.49, plus 99 cents shipping.
The drops are available at ProgressoSoupDrops.com starting on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. ET. Additional quantities will be released every Thursday for the rest of January, while supplies last.
