Oleksandr Usyk sees in New Year with Klitschko brothers and FaceTimes Arnold Schwarzenegger

Oleksandr Usyk had an eventful New Year’s Eve as he celebrated with some big names in the boxing world and beyond. The heavyweight king has now returned home to Ukraine following his repeat victory over Tyson Fury on December 21. Usyk and the Klitschko brothers were on FaceTime with Arnold Schwarzenegger Usyk is of course a hero in his homeland having represented the war-torn country in glorious fashion on the international stage in recent years. As such, he was first welcomed home by the nation’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy posted a picture of himself hosting Usyk in his office on New Year’s Eve. He captioned the photo: “December 31. Welcome home, champion. We are proud of you!” Not long later, Usyk put up a New Year’s message of his own. In a video, Usyk said: “Dear friends, Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to all. “Last year we all faced battles and victories, but I’m sure our greatest triumph will be ahead. “For the new year I wish you all faith in God, in miracles, in yourselves, and in your strength. “Believe that light will always overcome darkness. “May your loved ones be close, healthy, and safe in the coming year. He visited the legendary Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko, with Wladimir posting about the encounter. He revealed that they’d also shared a FaceTime call with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Klitschko uploaded an image of the call and captioned it: “A NYE with mixed emotions: Three champs conferenced in a legend for fun and laughs, wishing all a healthy 2025. “Short-lived fun as Russia again sends in rockets and drone attacks all over Ukraine including the Capital Kyiv, as it has for weeks, for months, for three years. “I’ll never get used to this ‘new normal’. May 2025 bring real change.”
