Wendy Williams has reportedly been living in the memory care unit of her assisted living facility for months, but not due to dementia, as some speculated.

Instead, sources say Wendy Williams was moved after an incident involving alcohol consumption at the facility’s restaurant.

According to a facility employee who has interacted with Wendy regularly, the former talk show host initially resided on the third floor, an area with no restrictions on residents’ movement.

However, early in her stay, Wendy visited the top-floor restaurant and bar for lunch. Sources tell TMZ that she began ordering drinks, got drunk, and remained there for an extended period. When facility supervisors learned what had happened, they were furious that she had been served alcohol.

In response, they decided to relocate Wendy to the fifth-floor memory unit, where residents do not have free access to the elevator. The primary concern, according to insiders, was preventing her from returning to the restaurant and drinking again.

The Move Was Delayed Due To Lack of Space

At the time, however, the memory unit was at full capacity, meaning Wendy had to remain on the third floor temporarily. While waiting for a room to open up, employees were stationed outside her door to prevent her from wandering upstairs to the restaurant.

To keep Wendy from questioning why she couldn’t visit the bar, employees reportedly told her that the restaurant was “under construction” and temporarily closed.

A few days later, when a room became available in the memory unit, Wendy was officially moved to the fifth floor, where she has remained for months.

While Wendy has been residing in the memory unit, the facility employee disputes claims that she has severe cognitive issues. "Wendy doesn't have good and bad days. She's the same all the time," the source told TMZ. "You can tell her something today and two weeks later she'll remember it. Her memory is fine."

Wendy herself has expressed frustration with her lack of freedom, revealing in a recent documentary that she had only been outside twice in 30 days, both of which were for dentist appointments.

As concerns about Wendy Williams’ well-being continue to mount, the former talk show host has previously spoken out about her conservatorship experience, describing it as isolating and restrictive.

Earlier this year, Wendy shared shocking details about her life under guardianship, revealing her frustration with the lack of autonomy and freedom. "I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I'm saying? But I feel like I'm in prison," she stated.

She also expressed discontent with her living conditions, explaining that she felt out of place among the other residents.

"I'm in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and 70s… There's something wrong with these people here on this floor," she shared.

Wendy Williams has been under court-ordered guardianship since 2022, but growing concerns over her well-being, isolation, and alleged mistreatment from those overseeing her care have continued to surface.

Earlier this year, Williams publicly denied claims that she is incapable of making rational decisions, comparing her conservatorship experience to feeling like a hostage. Her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, recently updated the judge overseeing Wendy’s case, stating that she is willing to allow a new medical evaluation to assess Wendy’s current condition.

"It would be prudent for [Wendy] to undergo a new medical evaluation that will involve comprehensive neurological and psychological testing by a specialist in the field," Morrissey stated in a court filing obtained by TMZ. However, despite agreeing to a reevaluation, Morrissey implied that the results would likely confirm Wendy’s original diagnosis, which led to her being placed under guardianship in the first place.

Additionally, Morrissey asked the court to put a hold on Wendy’s lawsuit against A&E over the Lifetime docuseries "Where Is Wendy Williams?," which aired last year.

Her filing further stated, "The Guardian has no interest in pursuing litigation in the extremely unlikely event that the new medical examination finds that [Wendy] somehow now has the mental capacity to direct the A&E matter."

With reports swirling about her health and well-being, fans remain concerned about Wendy’s situation.

While her representatives have maintained that she is receiving proper care, this latest revelation raises further questions about why she was placed in a memory unit if her cognitive function remains intact.

For now, Wendy remains in assisted living, but whether she will regain more independence in the future remains uncertain.
