The five-year-old hasn’t been seen over hurdles since March after two poor runs having ran well to beat Issam at Sandown in January. In a juvenile hurdle back in April, he was close behind Blueking d’Oroux which has also worked out well since and in his only other win under rules it was a 75 length victory in a match at Fakenham in a maiden hurdle, but is tough to back on chase debut. Bentley’s Return and Ede’iffs Rock also make their chase debuts and will need to run well on first effort to beat the favourite. Theonlywayisessex is the favourite in quite an open six-runner field off bottom weight and he’s shown good potential over fences running off the same weight as his last two efforts when third and second in a Class 5. However, Havaila‘s hurdle form could put him in great stead to win this as the five-year-old could well progress nicely having quite a lot of experience for his age. Gold Clermont This mare has a lot of stamina and her chase record proves that with efforts over 4m2f most recently in March, before a seasonal debut over 3m1f (over hurdles) late last month. But he won off this mark back in January in a decent Class 4 handicap before placing a respectable 4th when upped to a Class 2 and is definitely dangerous down in the weights.
