PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the cover of a new graphic novel, inspired by the film Moana 2. The New Adventures of Moana 2 Vol 1: Born to Voyage is forthcoming from Papercutz, an imprint of publisher Mad Cave Studios, next summer.
The new book sees Moana who is following in her ancestors’ footsteps by setting sail on the ocean in search of new land, friends Pua and Heihei at her side. Even though the journey is full of excitement, Moana still finds herself homesick, and missing her little sister, Simea.
With the help of her loved ones, however, Moana comes to see that she can overcome any challenges that may come her way.
The book is perfect for readers ages 8 to 12, per a statement shared with PEOPLE.

Moana 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the original 2016 animated film, hit theaters on Nov. 27, 2024. The movie, directed by Dave Derrick Jr., sees actress Auli’i Cravalho returning as the voice of Moana, and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui. The film also features the voices of Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House, Alan Tudyk, Hualalai Chang, Rose Matafeo and David Fane.

“This story is my culture, and this story is emblematic of our people’s grace, mana and warrior strength,” Johnson wrote in his Instagram announcement. "I wear our culture proudly on my skin and in my soul, and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reunite with MAUI, inspired by the spirit of my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia, is one that runs very deep for me."
