A man was arrested following a Manhattan subway station attack on two police officers. 

In a statement to PEOPLE on Thursday, Feb. 13, a DCPI spokesperson identified 35-year-old Corinthian Hills as the man taken into custody the day prior.

Just before 3 p.m. local time, officers were conducting a routine station inspection at the West 4th Street station when the disturbance began. 

Hills is accused of being “disorderly” while drinking wine from a glass bottle on the northbound platform on the A,C,E lines, according to the statement.

“As the officers attempted to speak with the individual, the male broke a glass wine bottle and slashed one officer’s left hand,” the DCPI spokesperson said.

The officers attempted to arrest Hills, but he allegedly “bit the other officer’s left leg.”

“The individual was taken into custody and transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for an evaluation. Both officers were transported to an area hospital in stable condition,” the statement concluded.

Hills was charged with two counts of second degree assault, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, violation of local law and disorderly conduct.

It is not immediately clear if Hills has an attorney.
