Kim Kardashian has come under fire for her decision to wear the late Princess Diana's amethyst cross necklace during a recent outing.
The reality TV star rocked the iconic piece with a racy outfit that exposed her chest, and that didn't sit right with some royal fans.
Kim Kardashian previously got called out over Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday Mr. President" dress, which she wore to the Met Gala in 2022.
Kim Kardashian Rocks Princess Diana's Necklace
The 44-year-old reality TV star turned up in style at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala on Saturday in Los Angeles, wearing Princess Diana's iconic cross necklace.
According to the Daily Mail, Kardashian bought the stunning piece of jewelry at a Sotheby's auction for just under $200,000 in 2023 but hasn't worn it since.
For the outing, she paired the antique amethyst necklace with a plunging white gown that left little to the imagination and layered it with other large jewelry pieces.
She threw on an off-the-shoulder ivory coat and had her dark tresses in a sleek bob with a part off to the left.
According to the news outlet, the late Princess Diana wore the pendant on a string of pearls when she attended the 1987 Birthright charity gala, where she dressed up in a purple velvet Catherine Walker gown.
The Attallah Cross, named for its previous owner, Naim Attallah, was originally made by Garrand in the 1920s and features square-cut amethysts surrounded by 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds. Attallah lent it to Princess Diana throughout the 1980s
Fans Call Out The Reality TV Star For Donning The Royal Jewelry
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" alum's decision to wear the iconic jewelry for the first time sparked outrage among fans and royal watchers, who took to social media to express their dismay at what they perceive as a tacky and disrespectful appropriation of a beloved royal's legacy.
A person wrote, "She had the audacity to put it on with this dress. Purely tone deaf, uneducated narcissistic unattractive brain."
Another said, "Nothing like having a blinged-out crucifix between bare breasts to show the state of our culture."
"She'd always still get the attention she seeks, though," a third person remarked. "How can one be so tone-deaf not just defy Diana's legacy but also spit on an important piece to a whole religion? Repent or rot in Hades!!!!"
Another added, "If you're going to wear such a sacred religious symbol, at least wear it with some class as Diana did. Show some respect."
She Wore Marilyn Monroe's Famous 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' Dress
In 2022, the billionaire mogul came under fire for wearing the late Marilyn Monroe's famous "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" dress to the Met Gala.
Although the reality TV star looked stunning in the dress, several fans felt she had done major damage to the outfit after Kardashian shared a video of herself struggling to wear the gown.
The dress was given to Kardashian by Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, who also came under fire that year for their decision.
However, the museum has since defended Kardashian from critics, noting that she did no damage to the dress.
"From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in," said Amanda Joiner, Ripley's VP of Publishing and Licensing, who accompanied the gown from the museum to the Kardashian house to the Met Gala and back to its resting place.
Kim Kardashian Got A Costly Diamond Gift From North
The SKIMS founder, who turned 44 on October 21, was gifted a costly diamond necklace by her daughter, North, as a birthday gift. At the time, Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories to show off what her daughter got her.
According to People Magazine, the piece of jewelry features a diamond tennis chain and gold nameplate with an engraving that reads "Skibidi Toilet." On the back, the plate is engraved with "Love, North" and includes the date.
Olivia Landau, CEO of jewelry brand The Clear Cut, told the news outlet that the "obscure" custom piece could be worth up to $20,000, estimating that each diamond on the necklace contains roughly .08 to .10 carats.
"It also appears to be a solid plate engraved 'Skibidi Toilet,'" Landau shared. "The estimated value of this necklace could be around $15-20k."
Kim Kardashian Is Reportedly Raising Her Kids Alone
Reports recently emerged suggesting Kardashian has been raising her kids alone while her ex-husband, Kanye West, has been MIA.
A source told People that she is "pretty much a single mom to them as the controversial rapper is "sadly not around very much."
"Although she has help, it's still a lot of work for her to balance and coordinate everything," a source close to Kardashian shared, insisting that her life revolves around her children.
West and Kardashian tied the knot in Florence, Italy, in May 2014 but finalized their divorce in November 2022 after she filed for divorce in February of that year. They share four kids: North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago.
Although they agreed to have joint custody with "equal access" to their children, the source noted that Kardashian will be seeing the kids more as she'll continue having them for about 80%.
