Keanu Reeves Reveals Which “Sonic the Hedgehog ”Superpower He'd Most Like to Have (Exclusive)

Reeves chatted with PEOPLE at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles ahead of the premiere of 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3'

Keanu Reeves is dishing on his real-life superhero wish list.

The actor — who has joined the popular animated franchise — chatted with PEOPLE during the Los Angeles premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday, Dec. 16.

Asked what superpower he'd most like to have in real life, Reeves, 60, says, "Well, if it was a Sonic superpower, I'm gonna take teleportation."

Reeves joins the cast for this movie as villain Shadow, and tells PEOPLE, "I love the Sonic films. I saw the first one, loved it, saw Sonic 2, loved it. And so when I got invited to play Shadow, I was really excited to work with everyone who helped make the film."

"And Shadow is such an intense character, and I like that he was intense, but he's got a good heart, and so I got to play super intense," he adds. "I want revenge, but then also kind of be sensitive and trying to show the good side of me."

Sonic 3 sees the return of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and Idris Elba as Knuckles.

"Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before," reads a synopsis.

"With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet," adds the synopsis of the film, directed by Jeff Fowler.

Though villainous Dr. Robotnik's fate was left unclear at the end of the second film, his return was teased in February.

The filmmakers posted a clip featuring Robotnik's laugh on X alongside the caption, "You all thought I was gone, but I’ve just been underground. What you’ve seen from me is only a #shadow of things to come."

The cast also includes James Marsden, Krysten Ritter, Lee Majdoub, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Alyla Browne and James Wolk.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is in theaters Friday, Dec. 20.
