Kanye West Finally Settles 'Fight' With Adidas After Fallout Over His Anti-Semitic Remarks
Kanye West has reached a private settlement with Adidas, bringing an end to the highly publicized dispute between both parties
Kanye West has reached a private settlement with Adidas, bringing an end to the highly publicized dispute that arose after the sportswear giant severed ties with the controversial rapper.
Both parties have been embroiled in a series of lawsuits since the fallout that saw West lose his billionaire status.
The settlement comes after Kanye West spent $35 million for a new Beverly Hills mansion after ditching his "bomb shelter" property in Malibu.
Kanye West And Adidas Settle Out-of-Court
According to reports, the German sportswear brand and the controversial rapper have opted to mend their broken relationship out-of-court two years after the brand dropped West.
The brand's CEO, Bjørn Gulden, made the revelation on Tuesday, disclosing that no payment was made by either party to the other.
"There isn't any more open issues, and there is no… money going either way, and we both move on," Gulden told reporters on a conference call, according to multiple outlets.
"There were tensions on many issues, and… when you put the claims on the right side and you put the claims on the left side, both parties said we don't need to fight anymore and withdrew all the claims," he added, although refraining from sharing more details about the deal.
"No one owes anybody anything anymore," Gulden continued, per Bloomberg. "So whatever was is history."
Kanye West's Anti-Semitic Comments Caused The Rift
The fallout between Adidas and the rapper began when West sparked widespread outrage in 2022 with his anti-Semitic remarks, prompting Adidas to join other major brands in cutting ties with him.
At the time, West made various controversial remarks, leading to widespread calls for Adidas to ditch the rapper.
The shoe giants initially seemed ready to stick it out with West; however, the company swiftly ended their partnership after the Yeezy founder said, "I can say anti-semitic sh-t and Adidas cannot drop me."
Shortly after this comment, Adidas dropped West in an announcement condemning his behavior.
"Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech," the company said in a statement at the time, per Page Six.
"Ye's recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company's values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness," they added.
The Rapper Lost His Billionaire Status After The Fallout With Adidas
After their split, the company was left with around $1.3 billion worth of unsold Yeezy shoes and merchandise, which they have slowly been selling.
The CEO Gulden later vowed to donate all profits from the remaining Yeezy sales "to the organizations that help us and were harmed by what Ye said."
West also took a hit to his billionaire status on the heels of the fallout, as his partnership with Adidas accounted for $1.5 billion of his net worth at the time.
According to Forbes, West is now worth $400 million thanks to his fallout with Adidas.
Kanye West Purchases Luxury Beverly Hills Mansion
Even though he is no longer a billionaire, the "Carnival" rapper recently spent a whopping $35 million on a new mansion in Beverly Hills.
According to TMZ, records show that the property is a 20,000-square-foot home that sits on a nearly seven-acre plot of land and boasts 11 bedrooms and 18 bathrooms.
The house also comes with an entertainment pavilion that's connected to the main house and a pool area that looks straight out of a resort. Cascading waterfalls decorate separate pool areas in his backyard, as well as a pool house, a gazebo, and a paddle tennis court.
The community has hosted several celebrities over the years, including Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Rod Stewart, Justin Bieber, Magic Johnson, Sofia Vergara, Barry Bonds, and Lisa Vanderpump.
Kim Kardashian Might Sue The Yeezy Founder For Custody Of Their Kids
Reports suggest West's ex-wife Kim Kardashian is planning to file a lawsuit against him over custody of their four children, North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago.
According to In Touch, the "Closed On Sunday" rapper might ditch the U.S. for Japan, leaving their already tense custody arrangement more toxic.
They were each granted "equal access" to all four of their children when their divorce was finalized in November 2022.
"Rumors have been swirling for a while that Kanye intends to relocate to Tokyo and renegotiate his custody terms with Kim because he'll want the kids to travel there frequently once he's settled," a source told the news outlet.
