Justin Baldoni was photographed for the first time since his It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.
Days after Lively, 37, filed the Dec. 20 complaint — alleging that Baldoni engaged in misconduct on set and later deployed a smear campaign against her — photos published by The Daily Mail show the actor-director, 40, out in Beverly Hills, Calif., with his wife Emily on Monday, Dec. 23.
Baldoni, who was cut by his talent agency after the filing made news, and Emily, 40, were dropping their two kids off before they attended a meeting in the area, Daily Mail reported. The couple have been married since 2013, and Emily shares a scene with Lively in It Ends With Us for a cameo as an ultrasound technician.
Lively’s complaint, which she filed months after rumors of behind-the-scenes discord between her and Baldoni began emerging in August, alleged that during the production of It Ends With Us, Baldoni exhibited “disturbing" and “unprofessional” behavior on set, then deployed a retaliatory smear campaign against her.
Specifically, Lively alleged in the complaint that Baldoni engaged in misconduct including inquiring about her sex life, walking into her trailer unannounced during “vulnerable” moments, and adding “gratuitous sexual content” to the film that she did not originally agree to.
The complaint states that before It Ends With Us resumed filming after the writers' strike, a meeting was held in January 2024 to address Baldoni's alleged actions and "the hostile work environment that had nearly derailed production." That meeting was attended by various producers, along with Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds.
The filing claims that the meeting led production company Wayfarer Studios (of which Baldoni is co-chairman and co-founder), Wayfarer CEO and producer Jamey Heath, and Sony Pictures, which distributed the film, approving a list of protections that were “designed to require Wayfarer to cease the on-set behavior of Mr. Baldoni and Mr. Heath.”
It Ends With Us costars Jenny Slate and Brandon Sklenar have publicly voiced support for Lively in the days since she filed her complaint. Author Colleen Hoover, whose bestselling book was the basis for the It Ends With Us movie, also spoke out in support of Lively.
Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman called Lively's allegations "false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt” him in a statement on Dec. 21.
Freedman also alleged that Lively caused issues during the filming of the movie, including "threatening to not show up to set, threatening to not promote the film, ultimately leading to its demise during release."
In a subsequent statement, Freedman argued that the publicists enlisted by Baldoni "operated as any other crisis management firm would when hired by a client experiencing threats by two extremely powerful people with unlimited resources."
In a statement to The New York Times, Lively said, "I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted."
