Ian Garry has revealed the unique reason why his UFC 310 fight is ‘making history’. But the 170 lbs title holder, who won the belt from Leon Edwards in July, was forced to withdraw from the contest after suffering from a bone infection. UFC 310 is headlined by a flyweight title bout as Alexandre Pantoja defends his belt for the third time against UFC debutant Kai Asakura. Garry, 27, revealed exclusively to talkSPORT on Wednesday that he aims to put ‘put a hole’ in Rakhmonov’s head on Saturday night. He also added that Rakhmonov will ‘be left speechless’ once they face off in the octagon, due to his ‘face and blonde hair’. The Irishman has since revealed why the pair’s co-main event bout on Saturday night is already making history. “I’m pretty sure this is the most wins combined undefeated in UFC history,” Garry said at the UFC 310 pre-fight press conference. “Israel Adesanya and Paolo Costa fought; they were 32-0. Me and Shavkat are making history here — 33-0.  “That sells the fight itself. You’ve got two of the best welterweights you’ve ever seen in this division .  “We’re going out here Saturday night and we’re going to put on a show for the fans, and someone’s 0 has got to go—who’s it going to be?” Rakhmonov added that he too is “ready” to put on a show for the fans in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garry also revealed to talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on Wednesday that he had previously been submitted by Rakhmonov when they sparred together. Garry joined talkSPORT’s Drive on Wednesday to preview his UFC 310 bout This followed an interview where the latter used the submission as leverage over his UFC 310 opponent to tease that he will do the same again at UFC 310. “If he’s hanging onto something like that in training, from two or three years ago, then guess what – do it on Saturday night,” Garry said on the submission. “Do it underneath the bright lights, do it when it matters most. “I promise you right now he is not ready for the speed. He’s going to look at me and go: ‘Oh my God, this guy is beautiful what do I do?’ “He’s gonna be left speechless. He’s not going to know what to do. He’s going to see this face, blonde hair, he’s gonna see how fast I move and go: ‘Wow, this kid is special.’” Garry is one of the best UFC welterweightsGetty Should Garry beat Rakhmonov at UFC 310, he will be next in line for a welterweight title shot against Muhammad as soon as the latter is back to full fitness. But the task at hand will not be easy, considering his Kazakh opponent is unbeaten in 18 professional MMA bouts, with a 100% finish record. ‘Nomad’ made his UFC debut one year before Garry in October 2020 and has submitted all-but one of his opponents via a rear naked or guillotine choke. Garry, however, is also unbeaten in 15 MMA bouts since turning pro in February 2019. And as a former Cage Warriors champion, ‘The Future’ definitely has it in his repertoire to upset Rakhmonov at UFC 310. Garry will need to avoid ‘Nomad’s’ takedowns and pray his opponent doesn’t bring him to the floor, where the chances of a submission defeat drastically increase. The Irishman will back himself with his elite standup and aim to pick apart Rakhmonov from the outside, which could lead to a victory on points.
