My daily walks are a must, and recently, I increased my distance goal from 2 to 3 miles a day. While I loved my old walking shoes, they were starting to show wear and tear, so I decided to try the $23 Avia sneakers shoppers say are just as good as On Cloud styles that cost about $150, more or less. They didn’t disappoint.
In fact, the Avias are now my go-to walking shoes. While I was staunchly loyal to my previous sneakers, this pair from Walmart has already helped me get more steps in thanks to their impressive comfort and support.

One of the first things I noticed about the Avia sneakers was the design. Of course, I couldn’t deny how similar they look to On Clouds (and at a fraction of the price), but I also loved that they came in my favorite color, pink. The lattice-inspired outsole isn’t too chunky, which is a plus as someone who tends to lose balance easily.
As soon as I put the sneakers on, I knew they’d be great. While they don’t have the intense heel stack of other popular walking shoes, there is still plenty of cushioning. The insole is made of memory foam, but your foot won’t sink into it and feel heavy. Instead, it provides the ideal amount of bounce while also maintaining support. The first day I wore them, I walked an extra half mile without even thinking about it, and by my second week in them, I’d reached my goal of 3 miles with no aches, pains, or blisters.
In addition to the bouncy yet supportive insole, the upper is breathable. It moves as you do and allows for airflow. Plus, as someone with a wide foot, I appreciate that the mesh has stretch. When sneakers aren’t offered in wide sizing, I worry they won’t feel comfortable or lace correctly, but these fit great thanks to their flexibility.
I’m also not the only person who has discovered that a $23 pair of sneakers can be just as good as pricier options. Shoppers who have purchased them say not only do they look like an On Cloud alternative, but they’re just as comfortable. One person who has bunions shared that the shoes don’t hurt their feet at all, and another explained that they bought them after a physician’s assistant recommended them. Plus, a teacher who stands and walks for hours at school declared their feet pain-free after a day of work.
If you’ve been looking for the perfect walking shoe or just need a great pair of sneakers for running errands, Walmart’s Avia Athletic Light Running Shoes are now my favorites — and they’re just $23. Keep scrolling to see even more Walmart sneakers worth buying.
