Hugh Jackman's Children Reportedly Feel Bad For Welcoming Sutton Foster Into Their Lives
Jackman's adopted children, Oscar and Ava, feel "guilty" for welcoming his rumored new girlfriend, Sutton Foster, into their family.
It has seemingly been an ordeal for the pair, as sources claim they are unsure how best to interact with Foster.
"It's been hard for the kids, having to welcome Sutton into their father's world with their own mixed feelings about it, while at the same time feeling guilty if they get too close," a source told Woman's Day.
"It's all getting a bit messy but Hugh's hoping time heals all wounds so if they can get through this holiday season without any big blow-ups, they'll be in smoother waters coming into the new year," the insider added, per the Daily Mail.
Jackman, Oscar, and Ava are currently in the actor's home country, Australia, where they're preparing to spend Christmas together.
Hugh Jackman's 'Affair' With Sutton Foster Allegedly Caused His Split From Deborra-Lee Furness
Jackman and Furness were married for almost thirty years, during which time they adopted their children. However, they announced their separation in September last year to "pursue our individual growth."
A source told Us Weekly that the "Deadpool Vs. Wolverine" actor had "an affair" with Foster while he was married to Furness, which caused their marriage to fall apart.
"Sutton and Hugh's relationship is the reason Hugh and Deb got divorced," a source close to Foster told the news outlet.
They added, "A lot of people on Broadway knew, and we kept it quiet because both of them are so nice and great people. Everyone respected their privacy. But there was an affair and overlap."
Foster filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin, on October 25. The "Bunheads" alum and Griffin share an adopted daughter, Emily, who is said to have met Jackman and reportedly calls him "Uncle Hugh," per New Idea.
The Marvel Star Didn't Want To 'Humiliate' His Estranged Wife
Jackman reportedly chose to keep his relationship with Foster out of the spotlight because he respects his ex-wife.
An insider told OK! Magazine that the "Logan" star has been keeping things with Foster on a low because he doesn't want to "humiliate" Furness.
"They've been hiding their relationship from the outside world for so long, sneaking around, living apart, but there will come a time when they'll want to come out as a couple," the source claimed. "Soon, they may start testing the waters."
They further noted that "many in the theater world already knew their secret," but the "X-Men" actor "doesn't want the negative publicity," nor does he want to "humiliate" Furness.
"Hugh cares for Deb a great deal. She's the mother of his children," the source added.
Deborra-Lee Furness Felt 'Blindsided' By The Romance
A source told US Weekly that Foster was "blindsided" when she learned of their relationship, with a second source revealing that she was devastated by it.
"It was apparently Broadway's worst-kept secret, and Deborra-Lee was the last to know," the industry insider claimed, adding that Jackman "didn't own up" to his alleged affair with the "Younger" actress.
"I think many people were shocked [Hugh] could do this to her, especially as she's the mother of his children, and they've navigated three decades of life together," a friend of the former couple disclosed. "A little respect may have been in order."
The Australian Actress Was Left 'Seething Rage' After Being 'The Last To Know' About Hugh Jackman's Romance
Furness was reportedly displeased over Jackman's alleged relationship with Foster.
A Radar Online source said she's particularly angry at Jackman's friends, Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, for being mute about the rumored romance.
"They kept their lips sealed out of loyalty to Hugh," the insider said. "Despite their longtime relationship with Deb, they chose to cover for him!"
"Now she is seething with rage over being the last to know about the clandestine affair. Deb feels blindsided. She has a memory like a steel trap and isn't afraid to use it!" the source added. "Debs feels cheated by all three because someone could have told her what was happening and they all chose to keep their mouths shut."
