Groom’s Daughter, 3, Leaves Sweetest Message for Him Before Walking Down the Aisle: 'There Wasn't a Dry Eye in the House'

An audio message from the couple's child left the groom and his wedding guests in tears

A groom was left in tears after hearing a surprise message from his daughter on his wedding day.

The emotional footage of Elliot Gwilliam's 3-year-old daughter, Evie, telling him "you're going to marry my mummy" has gone viral on social media, with the clip amassing more than 86 million views and 12 million likes on TikTok alone.

The video, filmed by Owen Bloor of JOL Videography, begins with Elliot, 34, standing turned around at the altar inside the chapel at Hawkstone Hall Hotel & Gardens in Marchamley, England, on Dec. 28. He was waiting to marry his fiancée Emma Beddow, 27, with whom he shares Evie.

Suddenly, a heartfelt audio message from Evie played over the public address system.

"Hello daddy, it's me, Evie," the message begins. "I'm walking down the aisle and will see you now because you're going to marry my mummy — and she looks beautiful. Like me."

Gwilliam was immediately moved by the message, as he began smiling and shaking his head. "Nah," he says in disbelief before someone off camera hands him a tissue to wipe away his tears.

"We love you so, so much, to the moon and back," Evie continues. "Love you lots and lots, like Jelly Tots. See you in a minute. See ya, don't wanna be ya. See you, alligator."

The videographer told BBC that he "can't believe how crazy" his heartfelt video has gone online.

"I'm so happy for the couple as well, because it's such a moment that people are going absolutely mental for; it's lovely," he added, noting that the bride came up with the idea just a few days before the wedding.

"He was emotional anyway, and it was such an amazing moment for us to be able to capture; it's just fantastic," Bloor said.

The surprise speech was a success, as the groom later admitted that after hearing his daughter's voice he "just lost it."

"It's unreal," Gwilliam said of the moment. "We'd been planning the wedding for about 12 months. I actually wasn't nervous as I stood there waiting for Emma. I thought, 'Nah, I've got this.' "

He continued: "Then I heard Evie's voice and within moments I was gone. I don't think I managed to pull myself together until Emma was alongside me."

"I did not stand a chance — but I wasn't the only one," he recalled. "There wasn't a dry eye in the house, especially when Evie came down the aisle as one of the flower girls. She is such a character and always keeps us on our toes."
