Graham Potter has clear preference after West Ham and Wolves both make approach

The Hammers are 14th in the table after a damaging four days, conceding five goals at home to Arsenal and then three away at Leicester, floating six points above the drop zone. However, their situation is not quite so alarming as Wolves, who are 19th in the table and three points adrift of safety after also shipping eight goals in their last two games. Potter has made it clear he is waiting for the right opportunity after being sacked by Chelsea after less than seven months in charge. The former Brighton boss, who greatly exceeded expectations at the Amex Stadium with an attractive style of football, has been linked with the Manchester United and England jobs during his time off. Potter recently said he was ready to return to top-flight management after a 20-month hiatus. Speaking in September, the 49-year-old said: “It still has to be the right thing, but I’m excited for it. I’m excited to hear what the opportunities are and I’ll take each one and judge it on its merits. “International management is a different rhythm and there are pluses for that. It’s more intense when it’s on, but you’ve got a bit more breathing space in between. He added: “You have to try not to beat yourself up, but you can’t just blame everything on somebody else. It’s not nice because of the high-profile nature of it. There’s a humiliation that it doesn’t go well. “I don’t have any regrets over doing it, but, at the same time, when anybody loses their job, there’s an element of frustration, anger and maybe bitterness at some point.” Potter was ironically working as a pundit for West Ham’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester on Tuesday, having also been linked with the Foxes. The Englishman admitted he was enjoying working with the media. When asked about his future, he said: “You’re open to everything but at the same time I’m really enjoying this (punditry) because it is another perspective.” When quizzed on links with the vacant Leicester job, which was recently taken by Ruud van Nistelrooy, Potter added: “What I’ve realised is that, in this world, you don’t believe everything you read in the newspaper. I spoke to a lot of people and a lot of clubs over the summer and over the time I’ve been out. “Out of respect for them, I think I will keep those conversations private.
