ESPN issues statement on Randy Moss health issue after NFL legend asked fans to pray for him

Randy Moss is stepping away from ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown show to deal with a health issue. The broadcaster confirmed the 47-year-old will take a hiatus from his role as an analyst in a statement on Friday morning. Moss addressed a health concern live on ESPNSUNSPSPEC/Getty “Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from Sunday NFL Countdown for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge,” the statement read. “For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. “He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.” Moss shared an update on his health as he opened the show last weekend, and had asked fans to pray for him and his family in an Instagram post. The legendary wide receiver explained that the issue would require him to wear glasses while appearing on television. “Well good morning. I just wanted to share something with you all,” Moss began at the top of the show last Sunday. “I put a post up a few minutes ago on Instagram just telling people – you were talking about my eyes last week – and I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally. “I have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys. “I feel great, but if you all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful because I’m on television. “I’m battling something, I need all the prayer warriors.
