Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team has criticized the new ID documentary series "The Fall of Diddy," calling it a baseless cash grab with "unsubstantiated" and "fabricated" claims.

In the preview of the docuseries released last week, Diddy is accused of making death threats to a journalist for refusing to let him have his way on the way a photo shoot would be used.

Several such documentaries have surfaced amid Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal woes as he awaits his sex crimes trial in jail.

Diddy's lawyers have slammed the forthcoming Investigation Discovery docuseries titled "The Fall of Diddy" ahead of its airing on Monday and Tuesday, calling it an attempt to profit off the music mogul's trials.

In a scathing statement released to the Daily Mail, Diddy's lawyers condemned the documentary as riddled with "unsubstantiated" claims and "fabricated" allegations designed to tarnish the rapper's reputation.

"These documentaries are rushing to cash in on the media circus surrounding Mr. Combs," Diddy's attorneys wrote in the letter to the publication via Email. "The producers failed to provide sufficient time or details for his representatives to address unsubstantiated claims, many from unidentified participants whose allegations lack context."

The lawyers continued, "By withholding this information, they made it impossible for Mr. Combs to present facts to counter these fabricated accusations."

"This production is clearly intended to present a one-sided and prejudicial narrative. As we've said before, Mr. Combs cannot respond to every publicity stunt or facially ridiculous claim. He has full confidence in the facts and the judicial process, where the truth will prevail: the accusations against him are pure fiction," they added.

Diddy Allegedly Threatened To See A Journalist 'Dead In A Trunk'

Diddy's lawyers' statement comes after a preview for the documentary was released in which a journalist accused the Bad Boy Records founder of making death threats towards her over a disagreement about a photoshoot.

Former editor-in-chief of Vibe Magazine, Danyel Smith, claimed in the docuseries that Diddy vowed he would see her "dead in a trunk" if she didn't show him, in advance, images of him for a story in the publication.

"After the shoot, Mr. Combs wanted to see the covers before they were published," Smith said in an excerpt from the docuseries. "It was policy for us not to show the covers to anyone before they were published."

She then alleged that the embattled rapper called her at the time to complain before making the death threats.

"I told him that I wouldn't be making an exception, and he said that he would see me dead in a trunk if I did not show it to him," she noted.

Smith revealed that she had to involve her lawyer when the rapper refused to take back his words about seeing her "dead in a trunk."

"My attorney called him to say that if he didn't immediately fax over an apology, my attorney was going to reach out to law enforcement," Smith said. "It took about 90 minutes to two hours and I received that faxed apology."

Diddy denied Smith's claims and has maintained his innocence on the sex trafficking charges he's currently facing ahead of his trial in May.

Elsewhere in the trailer for the documentary, Diddy's ex, Kat Pasion, spoke about her experience with the disgraced rapper, alleging that he forced her into a nonconsensual sexual act and then threatened her afterward.

Pasion, who first met Diddy in 2013 but didn't start a relationship with him until after he broke up with Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura, said that she'd witnessed several red flags from him before the alleged assault.

It wasn't until 2018 they had a misunderstanding and he circled his arms around her neck.

"Don't you f-cking dare because I'll call the police," Pasion claimed she told him at the time, adding that Diddy just "started laughing" and played it off like it was "a joke."

In another instance, she claimed that they were watching an R. Kelly documentary that detailed his history of abusing young women and that Diddy told her, "There's a little bit of R. Kelly in all of us."

They eventually broke up in 2019, with Pasion claiming that Diddy told her after their split, "You don't want to end up like my ex Cassie," which was seemingly his way of "threatening" her.

Diddy To Remain In Jail Until His Sex Crimes Trial In May

Diddy is currently being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after his arrest in September.

He is being kept in the special housing unit of the facility to keep him fully protected from possible harm.

At the time of his arrest, the music mogul was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The rapper made multiple attempts to secure bail, but each time saw his requests denied due to concerns about him being a flight risk and the potential for intimidating witnesses relevant to his trial.

Diddy is expected to remain in detention until his trial in May after withdrawing a bail appeal he had previously filed. He could face the maximum sentence of life imprisonment if found guilty of the charges.
