But anybody who has followed their fortunes over the past few years knows they both have a habit of hitting their top form at the business end of the season.  Below we look at the favourites in more detail. 1. Liverpool – 9/2 Most neutral observers expected Liverpool to have a hangover period after the departure of the legendary Jurgen Klopp.  Not a bit of it. New manager Arne Slot has hit the ground running.  Rather, than taking time to adjust to his new role, Slot has arguably improved the Reds. The Dutchman has managed to succeed in shoring up a leaky defence, while not taking away from Liverpool’s attacking capabilities.    A convincing 2-0 win over Real Madrid on Matchday 5 saw Liverpool installed as the new favourites.  Bet on Liverpool to lift the trophy at 9/2 with bet365 2. Manchester City – 5/1 Man City started their campaign with a sloppy 0-0 draw at home to Inter Milan, but soon got into their Champions League stride with back-to-back wins on Matchdays 2 and 3.  A 4-1 defeat away to Sporting Lisbon on Matchday 4 turned out to be a serious setback, with City suffering badly in their following Premier League matches. Pep Guardiola’s team also dropped more UCL points after they squandered a 3-0 lead to Feyenoord on Matchday 5.   City might not make the top eight, but they have enough quality to beat anybody in Europe over two legs in the knockout stages. Tip Manchester City to win the Champions League at 5/1 with bet365 3. Arsenal – 13/2 Arsenal is another English Premier League team to have endured a pre-Christmas mini-slump. Despite this, the Gunners are still on course to finish in the top eight and take their place in the Round of 16.  Mikel Arteta’s team will have learnt a lot from last season’s run to the quarter-final. And if Liverpool continues to run away with the English Premier League title, Arteta may be able to focus his resources on the Champions League. Bet on Arsenal to win the Champions League at 13/2 with bet365 4. Real Madrid – 6/1 Madrid are the current holders of the Champions League. But Los Blancos seem to be suffering from an embarrassment of riches as they attempt to find the best way for new signing Kylian Mbappe to gel with his talented teammates.   Real probably won’t finish in the top eight. They are looking more likely to have to go into the playoffs to get into the Round of 16. But when they finally hit their straps, they will again be a match for anyone. Bet on Real Madrid to win the Champions League at 6/1 with Betfred 5. Barcelona – 6/1 Barcelona laid down a significant marker when they hammered Bayern Munich 4-1 on Matchday 3. With four wins in their opening five matches, the Catalans look set to finish in the top eight. Manager Hansi Flick is an experienced manager and knows what he is doing in the Champions League. He led Bayern to the title in 2020. And with Robert Lewandowski in exceptional form this season, Barca will be a match for anybody in the latter stages of the competition. Bet on Barcelona to win at 6/1 with Sky Bet 6. Bayern Munich – 7/1 New Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has adapted to life in the Bundesliga with ease, but after an indifferent start in Europe, the jury still remains out in the Champions League.  Munich last won this competition in 2020, and they will feel for a club this size, they are due another win soon. A strong finish to the group stages should see them finish inside the top eight, taking their place in the Round of 16. Tip Bayern Munich to win at 7/1 with BetMGM 7. Inter Milan – 16/1 Inter made it to the final in 2023, narrowly missing out on the trophy after a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.  Under the leadership of the experienced Simone Inzaghi, Inter has had a solid start to this year’s UCL campaign.  The Italians ha
