She has shared glimpses of their life in Spain, emphasizing her happiness and dedication to Oonagh.
Now, Amber Heard is expanding her family.
Amber Heard Is Gearing Up For Baby No. 2
The "Aquaman" star is expecting her second child, per PEOPLE. A spokesperson for Amber Heard shared, "It is still quite early in the pregnancy, so you will appreciate that we do not want to go into much detail at this stage. Suffice to say that Amber is delighted both for herself and Oonagh Paige."
Heard is already a proud mom to her 3½-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige. When announcing Oonagh’s arrival three months after her birth, Heard revealed on Instagram that she had "decided I wanted to have a child" four years earlier and "wanted to do it on my own terms."
"I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way," she wrote. "I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib."
Amber Heard Moves To Spain Following Johnny Depp Trial
After her highly publicized defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp in 2022, Amber Heard moved to Spain with her daughter, Oonagh Paige, seeking a more private and peaceful life away from the relentless media attention.
She initially settled in Mallorca before relocating to Madrid, where she expressed her deep affection for the country. In a 2023 interview, Heard shared, "I love Spain so much," and confirmed her plans to stay, saying, "Yes, I hope so. I love living here."
Heard has embraced her new environment, immersing herself in the local culture and becoming fluent in Spanish. She’s been spotted enjoying everyday activities with her daughter, including trick-or-treating during Halloween, where she dressed as a whimsical witchy clown.
As part of her fresh start, Heard reportedly changed her name to Martha Jane Cannary, a nod to the real name of the historical figure Calamity Jane.
Amber Heard Sued By Johnny Depp For Defamation
In 2018, Amber Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post discussing her experiences with domestic abuse. Although she did not name Johnny Depp, he filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against her in 2019, claiming the article damaged his reputation. Heard countersued for $100 million, alleging defamation based on statements made by Depp's attorney.
The trial began in April 2022 in Fairfax County, Virginia, and concluded in June 2022. The jury ruled that Heard’s op-ed contained false statements that defamed Depp with actual malice. Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, later reduced to $350,000 under Virginia state law.
For Heard’s counterclaim, the jury found that one of Depp’s attorney’s statements was defamatory, awarding her $2 million in compensatory damages but no punitive damages.
Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Reach Settlement
Both parties appealed the verdict but reached a settlement in December 2022. As part of the agreement, Heard paid Depp $1 million, which his attorneys stated he would donate to charity.
The trial drew extensive media attention, sparking widespread debate about domestic violence and the #MeToo movement. Public opinion was sharply divided, with significant support for Depp and criticism of Heard.
Amber Heard Continues To Focus On Being A Full-Time Mom
With the trial behind her, Amber Heard expressed her intentions to focus on her family during a June 2022 interview with NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie, shortly after the verdict.
"I get to be a mom, like, full-time, you know? Where I'm not having to juggle calls with lawyers," she said at the time, to which Guthrie then said, "One day you may want to tell your daughter about this or have to tell your daughter about everything that you've gone through. What would you want to say?"
"I think no matter what," Heard replied. "It will mean something. I did the right thing. I did everything I could to stand up for myself and the truth."
