‘A statement’ – Joe Rogan reacts to wild UFC 310 finish that makes history and leaves opponent unconscious
Joe Rogan was fired up following Vicente Luque’s emphatic UFC 310 victory. Luque submitted Themba Gorimbo in the first round of their prelims bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Less than a minute into his fight, Luque rocked Zimbabwe’s Gorimbo with a right hand followed by a left, before jumping on a rare anaconda choke. The Brazilian then expertly rolled his opponent, tightening the choke, and Gorimbo didn’t even get the chance to tap as he was instantly put out cold. Luque finished Gorimbo in 52 seconds of round one, making it the fastest anaconda choke in UFC history and earning himself a nice $50,000 bonus in the process. Gorimbo was a late replacement for Nick Diaz, stepping in a week before fight night. Diaz pulled out for undisclosed reasons and Gorimbo was confident heading into the bout. This is because he was on a four-fight winning streak. But he was no match for Luque. “He’s got an anaconda choke here, that’s very tight,” UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan exclaimed as Luque secured the finish. “He’s got it. He’s out, he’s out. Luque holds wins over some of the best stars that have fought in Dana White’s roster, including current welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, Mike Perry and Tyron Woodley. While he lost his UFC debut in July 2015, he has since racked up an impressive record, winning 16 of his 21 subsequent bouts for White’s promotion. UFC 310’s prelims also witnessed Dominick Reyes finish Anthony Smith, while Movsar Evloev secured a unanimous decision victory over Aljamain Sterling. On the rest of the card, Alexandre Pantoja defended his Flyweight title against Japanese newcomer Kai Asakura. This was Asakura’s UFC debut after leaving Rizin in the summer, where he was a multiple champion. But Pantoja was too good for Asakura and secured the win with a rear-naked choke submission. Elsewhere, there were wins for Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ciryl Gane. View Tweet: https://twitter.com/hashtag/UFC310?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
