One on-site reviewer, Caroline S., says they do exactly that. She writes, “These sheets are so soft and they only get softer in the wash. I feel like I’m sleeping in a cloud, and the beige color is perfect for fall.” Another reviewer Jennifer N. warns that they are not the best sheets for those who “sleep extra hot” because “the texture feels like being wrapped in a bear hug from your safest friend who’s wearing their favorite button up.” She adds, “I’ll still probably use my percale sheets in the summer, but they’re going to feel so blandly smooth after becoming accustomed to these.” Needless to say, The Citizenry makes an impressive set of linen sheets.Best Bamboo Sheets: Quince Bamboo Sheet SetChevronChevronQuinceBamboo Sheet Set$130 QuinceMaterial: Organic bamboo viscoseIncludes: 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet (optional), and 2 pillowcasesReturn policy: 365 daysLast December, I tested several bamboo sheets and deemed Quince’s $130 set the best overall. Best Linen Sheets: The Citizenry Stonewashed Linen Sheet Set

The Citizenry

Stonewashed Linen Sheet Set

The Citizenry’s best-selling linen sheet set is one of the best on the market, according to hundreds of reviews. It's available in 14 stylish colorways and made from 100% French flax fabric. Linen sheets reign supreme because of their breathable weave, natural plant fibers, and durability—they are especially famous for getting softer with every wash. One on-site reviewer, Caroline S., says they do exactly that. She writes, “These sheets are so soft and they only get softer in the wash. Best Bamboo Sheets: Quince Bamboo Sheet Set

Quince

Bamboo Sheet Set

Last December, I tested several bamboo sheets and deemed Quince’s $130 set the best overall. The DTC brand excels at making high-quality products with more affordable price tags. This set, for example, is just a little over $100 and crafted from viscose derived from organic bamboo—a fabric that is best known for its silky feel, antimicrobial properties, temperature regulation, and luxurious sheen. Quince’s set checked every box for less than many retailers $200+ queen bamboo sheets. The weave was so soft that it practically slipped through my fingers. Plus, it kept me cool all night long. If you’re a fan of bamboo sheets’ unique characteristics, this is the set to buy.

Best Eucalyptus Sheets: Sijo AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set

Sijo

AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set

Sijo’s AiryWeight set is like Quince’s Bamboo Sheet Set’s cousin. Its Tencel Lyocell Eucalyptus material is also a semi-synthetic fabric derived from wood pulp that has cooling, hypoallergenic properties as well as a soft, slippery feel. I was thoroughly impressed by how supple Sijo’s threads were upon opening the package and bonus: The color was just as rich in person as it is pictured on site. I tested them during winter but I would definitely save these for hot summer weather. The fitted sheet is a bit on the thinner side, but this kept me cool as I slept beneath my top sheet, blanket, and comforter. If you like bamboo sheets with a bit less of a slippery feel, opt for Sijo’s silky eucalyptus set.

Best Percale Sheets: Saatva Percale Sheet Set

Saatva

Percale Sheet Set

Percale is for hot sleepers, practical shoppers, and hotel sheets-lovers. The cotton weave is durable, soft, and crisp. Saatva’s set specifically blew me away when I tested it and many others in January. Like Sijo’s sheets, these run a tad thin but therefore don’t trap body heat. The set’s long-staple cotton and 200-thread count also helps with breathability. A big plus are the fitted sheet’s deep pockets that enveloped my queen mattress with ease. Although Saatva is best known for its organic mattresses, all hot sleepers should give the brand’s crisp percale sheets a try.

Best Sateen Sheets: Parachute Sateen Sheet Set

Image may contain: Cushion, Home Decor, Pillow, and Linen

Parachute

Sateen Sheet Set

What Parachute’s sateen set lacks in colorway options it makes up for in silky long-staple Egyptian cotton threads and silky texture. Its buttery smooth construction feels slick and cool to the touch, which is great for hot sleepers and non-hot sleepers alike. Plus, it's good enough to get GQ's senior visuals editor, Daria Di Lello, to switch from her usual choice of linen sheets to sateen. “My favorite thing about these sheets is how soft, luxurious, and buttery they feel,” Di Lello says. “I built my set with neutrals in two dynamic tones that reflect light differently throughout the day so they’re always matching the vibe in my bedroom. I’d recommend these for a cozier sleep, not for hot sleepers.”

The luxurious feel of the sheets give off the impression that you're sleeping on something that costs way more, and while its sub-$300 price tag isn't cheap, the nightly trips to Snooze Town are absolutely worth it.

Best Sheets On Amazon: Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set

Brooklinen

Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set

In the past few years Amazon has welcomed numerous household bedding brands into its vast inventory. Although you won’t get a better price by shopping on Amazon, you’ll most likely get much faster shipping. Brooklinen’s best-selling sateen set, for example, is available on Amazon with Prime two-day shipping (depending on where you live). This set is a major crowd-pleaser and great for guest rooms as it is smooth but not slippery and cozy but not suffocating. The fabric is thick and durable as well so I expect these sheets to survive years of washes. I also love how the pillowcases provide a snug, not oversized fit on my pillows. Overall, Brooklinen’s sateen set is definitely worth a spot in your next Amazon haul.

Best Organic Sheets: Pact Organic Cool-Air Sheet Set

Image may contain: Blanket, Home Decor, Linen, Bed, Furniture, and Cushion

Pact

Organic Cool-Air Sheet Set

Pact is a staple sustainable brand for both cotton bedding and clothing. For these percale sheets, Pact sources its organic, GOTS-certified cotton from a Fair Trade Factory in India that is conscious of its water waste. Although I did not get a chance to test Pact’s cooling sheet set, if organic, ethically sourced cotton is your main priority, then this is your best bet. It has a 4.5-out-of-5 star on-site rating and 183 reviews. One Pact customer Kate D. raves that the sheets are “light and breathable,” while another says her husband sleeps better because of them: “My husband and I love these sheets. He usually overheats at night and since getting these sheets feels like he sleeps much better.”

Best Sheets Under $100: Mellanni Hotel Luxury 1800

Mellanni

Queen Sheets Set

One of Amazon’s most popular bedding brands, Mellanni, has some of the best budget sheets around. Fair warning: They are 100% microfiber, a synthetic fabric that is undeniably cozy but tends to be a bit stuffy—not great for hot sleepers. So, save this set for the winter months. I tested them this February and adored snuggling into the fleecy texture. Plus, the fitted sheet easily wrapped around my mattress and had some room left over—microfiber, if not taken care of properly, can shrink so some wiggle room with the fitted sheet is a must. So, should these be the sheets of your dreams? No. But Mellanni makes a solid set of sheets that should definitely be worth more than $30.

Best Cooling Sheets: Cultiver Linen Sheet Set

Cultiver

Linen Sheet Set

This was the softest linen sheet set I’ve ever felt straight out of the package. This is not technically a “cooling” sheet set, but the 100% European flax is so light, airy, and breathable that it absolutely should be. The weave is almost like that of a gauze baby blanket and therefore allows ample airflow. So, for hot sleepers who don’t like the silky smooth, semi-synthetic feel of bamboo sheets and yearn for the rustic charm of linen, treat yourself to Cultiver’s cooling linen set. The linen is so luxurious and intricately woven that I also imagine they will last a very long time.

What to Look for in the Best Sheets

Material

When narrowing down the best sheets for you, start with fabric. Like we mentioned, the best materials for all sleepers are organic cotton or linen. Both plant-based threads can withstand years of wear, provide ample airflow, and are authentically soft. However, they will cost you more than synthetic fabrics. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget or simply prefer a silkier texture, semi-synthetic bamboo and eucalyptus sheets are a great option—some will even cost you more than natural sheets because of their luxurious qualities. These fabrics (also referred to as lyocell, Tencel, and rayon) are antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, and cooling. A fully synthetic fabric like microfiber is not necessarily the pinnacle of bedding fabric, but it's a great affordable option that is soft, cozy, and durable when cared for properly.

Price

The prices on our list range from $30 to $400+. Meaning, the $100 to $300 range is the safest and most practical price for high-quality sheets. Under $100 and you will most likely sacrifice natural fibers, breathability, and fabric longevity. Over $300 and you are treating yourself to more luxury amenities like GOTS-certified cotton, high thread counts, and charming packaging.

Return Policy

Always check the return policy. The most rave-reviewed sheets might not float your boat, or perhaps the color you picked clashes terribly with your decor. Thirty days upon delivery is average, 60 days is nice, and one year is excellent.
