Two Lamborghini Revuelto Supercars Recalled for Possible Fire Risk After NYC Incident

After an incident occurred in October in New York City, where a hybrid Lamborghini Revuelto supercar caught fire with only 108 miles on the odometer, the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer stepped in to investigate, finding an issue with an oil flange connection in the engine bay.

Aside from the two affected 2024 model Revuelto supercars, other Lamborghini owners can reportedly rest easy as the automaker claims that the fire risk does not seem to be a widespread issue. After inspecting the vehicle’s remains, Lamborghini engineers found the culprit, “a possible oil leakage from one connection of the oil circuit flange from radiator to oil tank.”

Lamborghini’s report states the October Revuelto fire was caused by a reworking of the supercar’s oil system. After the oil system was reassembled, the screws holding the oil line to the flange were not torqued correctly. As a result, oil leaked from the flange, dripped on hot engine components, and ignited the flames.

If a Lamborghini Revuelto catching fire rings a bell, you may remember reading about internet influencer Ethan Duran and his Revuelto supercar catching fire with just 108 miles on the odometer. This incident also happened in October on a New York highway. Lamborghini does not reveal if this is the same car, but the odds make it highly likely.

Information on the second car receiving the recall was not shared and its condition is unknown, but Lamborghini says both owners will need to have their cars inspected at a dealership, where technicians will check and tighten the oil circuit flange screws properly.

Lamborghini reassures Revuelto customers that the new models rolling off the production line won’t have this issue, claiming that updated production processes have eliminated the defect.
