Tesla Cybertruck Gets its Seventh Recall

The Tesla Cybertruck is on its seventh recall since its debut. After all, Elon Musk did admit that making the Tesla Cybertruck is hard, even telling analysts, “We dug our own grave with Cybertruck.”

All jokes aside, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s  (NHTSA) latest recall naming Tesla includes nearly 700,000 Tesla EVs, all of which may have for TPMS issues that could fail to indicate insufficient tire pressure. The faulty tire pressure monitoring system could cause drivers to be unaware of dangerous drops in tire pressure, which could impact traction and potentially throw a vehicle off-course, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to the recall, Cybertrucks may have TPMS lights that fail to remain illuminated for every use, but there is good news: Tesla claims the issue has an easy fix. The automaker has already reportedly issued an over-the-air (OTA) software update that corrects the TPMS fault.

The Cybertruck isn’t the only Tesla affected: The recall also impacts Tesla Model 3 EVs manufactured from 2017 to 2025 and Model Y SUVs between 2020 and 2025. A total of 694,304 Tesla EVs are included in the recall.

The NHTSA expects Tesla to send out notification letters by February 15, 2025. If you own a vehicle that may be affected by the recall, head over to the NHTSA website to utilize their recall lookup tool.

Earlier this spring, Tesla dominated the top five most recalled car list. Not long after, The Cybertruck was recalled for multiple issues, such as faulty accelerator pedals, a faulty windshield wiper motor controller, and for the trunk bed trim coming loose. Despite all the manufacturing complications, the Tesla Cybertruck still somehow made an appearance as a police car in a California fleet, although not all of California’s police departments agree about the Cybertruck’s use in frontline operations.
